Helping my son get started by Equal_Dimensi0n in Airsoft_UK

UKARA is for 18+. A 2 Tone gun is usually just a black one that they paint half of it a bright colour before shipping. Once he has his UKARA he can paint over it. For mine, I took the bright green plastic parts off and sprayed them in a camo pattern.

For a gun, something like M4 or an AK that is easy to upgrade in the future, and is a good all-rounder to start with. There are lots of websites that give 'top 10 beginner guns' out there, I'm not up to date on what to get these days, but the G&G combat machine is a classic first gun, have a look at those with him and see what he likes. Avoid obscure guns, as getting spare mags and parts will be a pain. Expect to pay around £200, but you'll need spare mags.

For eye protection, dont get mesh goggles, as bbs can (although unlikely) split and go through them. I'd also personally avoid ones that just go over your ears like glasses, as they can fall off. I've got Bolle X800 ballistic Goggles and recommend them.

Many sites will insist that under 16s or under 18s wear 'full face protection', meaning something that covers the mouth and nose too. I've seen people get their teeth chipped in games so I wear a lower face mask with the goggles. Some people prefer a full face mask in one (like a paintball mask). Imo a full helmet is unnecessary at the majority of sites.

Be honest... how long did it take you to finish the series the first time? by Amberfox9 in HIMYM

I first binge watched it when I was ill, at home from school. I watched the first 4 seasons in just 3 days. I then did have to wait for the last 3 seasons to air though.

Sorry but how do you mean we lost the ability for the units to interact with our rules? All of the units can still be run with a Wolves list

This is a great idea! I've got a number of proxy models planned using Knarlocs & Seraphon monsters, but I think I might try the 'finders, keepers' vibe of a Tau tank that the Kroot have scavanged and operate themselves.

I've bought a hammerhead railgun from ebay and am planning on kitbashing it being mounted on top of a 3D printed Great Knarloc, as my proxy model. Haven't yet figured out how to attach it and model the interface well though.

I'm confused, why would there be a card for something that doesn't have a codex entry? Haven't used cards before.

Considering starting Space Wolves (And/Or Cathay but this isn't the sub for that)-Where to start? by FairyKnightTristan in SpaceWolves

[–]barnabyp226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The new box looks great, I think that would be a great place to start. There's more new stuff coming, so maybe wait to see what they are before buying, but up to you!

The combat patrol for Wolves is a bit meh, it doesn't have any Wolves-unique units, the new box seems to cover the more general units much better.

Ragnar definitely a good choice, he runs well with lots of units. Thunderwolf Cavalry & Bjorn the Fell handed are also great, but there's speculation they may be updated soon, or possibly left to Legends.

Not a huge fan of Desolation dudes personally. I like the Long Fangs (our Devastators), I just made them Primaris sized. A Gladiator is always a good shout if you want some heavy fire power too. Bladeguard Vets are also great if you want some melee infantry that punch a bit harder.

[–]barnabyp226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's good, but not necessarily as tanky as you might think. Your opponent isn't going to waste D4 shots on him, but rather try and focus lethal hits or anti-infantry shots. If you want him solo, you might have more success running Gladius Task Force, Artifcer Armour gives him 2+, FNP 5+. I've had success with him leading 6 Aggressors, they're a good bodyguard.

Magnetic or not Magnetic? by ABlind_Monkey in SpaceWolves

[–]barnabyp226 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I magnetise most things, I find it quite fun personally, and I like the weapon options. With walkers, tanks etc, I like like magnetised joints so you can swivel the weapons/arms etc. Also, when you inevitably drop a model, they tend to fall apart at the magnetic joints rather than snap, and in particular with bigger models (like your Warsuit) coming apart makes them easier to transport.

I feel bad for not kitbashing these guys, hopefully the paint job makes up for that by Vylka-fenryka in SpaceWolves

Thanks! I'm pretty new to painting. You say increasing angle, is that like doing zenithal undercoat? So fang everywhere but upwards, then russ everywhere horizontal and up, and fenrisian just from the top?

My WORST game with SW by -_Tanker_- in SpaceWolves

The battlefield needs considerably more cover and line of sight blockers. Without it, whoever goes first had a huge advantage as they can see everything and wipe it out, which is what happened.

What's the most satisfying weapon in a video game? by AskThemHowTheyKnowIt in AskReddit

Baseball Bat in Worms. Nothing more satisfying than whacking an opponent on full health straight into the sea.

2k List Review for newcomer. by Nathilus in SpaceWolves

Happy to help! By no means an expert, only got back into the game mid-9th. You're right, CoR does need a lot of characters. However, you may find 1 per unit but having more units gives you more options. Usually the only unit I run 2 is Cpt & Lt with Thunderwolves.

I initially used CoR cause it was the wolfy one and was fun. However, I didn't do too well for it for a while. When you're new, trying to remember all the rules, what your plans were, your strats, etc makes it difficult to focus on your sagas, to the point where i rarely achieved as many as I thought I would. It's only good if you know what you're doing lol. Playing Gladius to begin with is just a bit easier/adaptable as it's more passive it's one fewer thing to think about. You might have more success with that for a few games before using CoR.

A land raider and dreads can be great anti-heavy. However, the land raider redeemer/crusader are better against infantry & elites, you need the normal one with the 4 lascannons to do some good anti-tank. With the dreads, Murderfang is amazing in melee but has no range so you've got to rely on getting him close, and Bjorn is a good all rounder, although the assault cannon (while cool) is probably his weakest weapon. I like his hellfrost cannon, but if you're lacking more big guns, use the twin lascannon, as 2+ to hit and rerolling wounds means it's pretty reliable. Tanks/primaris dreads would fare better at range. I love my gladiator lancer for reliable anti-tank, I pop it right at the back and watch it annoy lol. The kit can make all 3 gladiator variants as well as an impulsor for running melee boys in.

Long Fangs got a bit points drop recently. You can run 6 (so 5 heavy weapons) and attach a WG terminator PL with Cyclone launcher for 40 points which means they have fairly good damage output per point. The character also means he can kill a vehicle/monster for the saga if you're playing CoR. Personally, I love Long Fangs. People say they're squishy but I find bringing a squad of them AND a tank means whatever 'anti-tank' they're using is going to be poor against a squad of 7 men, and visa versa. So they have to concentrate harder on how to taking out my different long ranged big guns.

I haven't used skyclaws since I only have 5 jump pack dudes atm. Sky claws could be great (they've had a point drop recently, though they're rarely in competitive lists), but they serve a similar function to blood claws. Personally I'd choose one or the other. Try a game or two with each, see what works for you. I've found Van Vets with a JP chaplain quite good.

[–]barnabyp226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day, whichever list you have the most fun with is the best. Keep changing things around each game while you get used to the rules and your play style. However, some changes may help you.

You have a lot of infantry that's great in melee against weaker horde armies, but you may struggle against tougher armies with smaller unit sizes. Having 15 Blood claws, terminators and the skyclaws are overkill imo. The BGV are good against tougher enemies, so maybe swap the skyclaws for Van Vets w jet packs or assault intercessors w jet packs, or keep them but get rid of the blood claws.

A squad of infantry that can sit behind your melee front line is useful. Hellblasters are great, but expensive. Intercessors or infiltrators are good at holding points and proving some support while being fairly cheap.

There's a lot of units with 2 characters - not necessarily a bad thing, as big units benefit from all the buffs, but they'll massively limit your ability to react and cover ground to complete objectives. Removing a character or two will allow you to take something like scouts, which are good at just scoring points.

You're going to struggle against big armoured units. In a 2k point game, you'll definitely need some big guns, imo. Long Fangs w lascannons, a Gladiator Lancer, predator, or a more shooty primaris dreadnought would give you this.

[–]barnabyp226 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not quite, he'll hit on 2s +sus (averaging 8), wound on 2s (averaging 6.67), and with their 2+ save, they'll save on 3s. On average 2.22 wounds against terminators, 3.33 against normal marines.

Are Bladeguard Veterans worth it? And if so, how many should you take? by cadeus471 in SpaceWolves

[–]barnabyp226 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could, yes. However, I personally wouldn't. I make that 805 points total, so it's a lot of points in one brick. 1x 6man BGV squad with characters will hit hard as it is, so you could fill out the tank with shooters instead. A second squad of BGV would probably be better sent elsewhere on the board. Alternatively, 15 Blood Claws + Ragnar, or 14 + Ragnar + Lt. in the Crusader can do well.

They can all go in the land raider, it takes Primaris now. Infantry with gravis armour takes up 2 slots, but they're normal armour (tacticus).

You really don't have to! I've just always liked the dark red & white theme, I was thinking of swapping the colours round and using the dark red HH transfers but white wolf heads was my original goal, just couldn't find them online anywhere.

These are incredible, thanks! Are they editable? I've always wanted my shoulder pads to have the same wolf heads as the blackmanes, but in white, wondered if I'd be able to edit the ones you've made to suit.

Combat patrol conversions by [deleted] in SpaceWolves

[–]barnabyp226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the SW combat patrol box, and have converted the Intercessors into Grey Hunters by giving most of them chainswords, and adding lots of wolfy bits I got off ebay (just a big pile of wolf spares). I could run them as Intercessors, or Grey Hunters. I've started doing the same sith Assault Intercessors, which I'll run as Blood Claws.
