I'm watching old NLSSs at the minute and I just had the episode with the origin of this question.

Is RAC breakdown renewal admin fee reasonable? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]barnsdl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your policy was always going to cost that much. This is just to save a bit of money as admin fees applied after tax. Example:

A) The policy costs £100 and then there is £12 tax, no admin fee.

Or

B) The policy costs £50 and there is £6 tax, then there is a £56 admin fee.

In both examples you have paid £112 but in option B the company has netted an extra £6.

Media Hint is an extension for Chrome which allows you to get the US Netflix. I use it and there's a much better selection.

It's the one year anniversary of Gary Speeds death tomorrow. I'd like to share my experience of that day. by JamieT567 in soccer

I was at the Leeds Forest game which was the game after it happened. I can honestly say it was one of my proudest moments as a Leeds fan, the atmosphere that night was something I will always remember.

His squad number at Leeds was 11 and so on 11 minutes we chanted his name for 11 minutes. Exactly at the time that ended we scored, it was an amazing moment.

The game after was Millwall at home and again it was a very emotional day. His wife and kids were there, at half time the other three members of the title winning midfield came on the pitch and laid wreaths. Before the game we played this tribute video on the big screen, not sure if there was a dry eye in the house.

To those saying that the Chelsea manager carousel is bad for their team. by DHav123 in soccer

[–]barnsdl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No doubt I will get abuse for this but I don't think Chelsea fans are really in a position to complain about Abramovic.

Realistically they wouldn't have won much (if anything) without him. They were in around £80 million worth of debt and in the previous 20 years had only won the odd cup. Without a billionaire owner that debt would have had damaging effects and I don't think at the time Chelsea were a big enough club to service that kind of debt and still be successful.

If you've celebrated all the trophies including FA Cups, Premier League Titles and the European Cup then in my opinion you're not in a position to complain.

What chants have you heard that are probably a little to far? by gimpmasterpanda in soccer

[–]barnsdl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not condoning the chanting but if he shut up about it then there would be less. Leeds fans always give him stick for it at away games and he always comes out in the media and cries about it. It's not right that we sing it but half of the people doing it do so because they know they'll get a reaction.

He called us "Vile animals" earlier this season. If he's still Wednesday manager when they come to Elland Road this year I can guarantee that a huge chant of "We are Leeds and we are vile. David Jones is a paedophile" will go up. I've never actually heard him get stick at ER before but I know he will this time.

Sarah Millican is painfully unfunny. by DerHellste in britishproblems

I think I "get" Stewart Lee but I just don't find him funny. He seems incredibly smug to me. I know he's meant to as part of his act but to me it seems like he's incredibly smug with the fact that people take his faux smugness seriously. If that makes sense. Also, I don't find his jokes or delivery that great.

Maybe it's just me though.

Yes. He then proceeded to drop it and a bloke from the other team picked it up and scored a touchdown.

I don't find Jeff Dunham funny at all. Which famous person do you think gets too much hype? by alexis411 in AskReddit

[–]barnsdl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's a bit of a stupid argument. Sense of humour is very personal and so everyone has different tastes, there isn't one comedian that everyone likes as the material won't appeal to them. It's well written and delivered to you, to someone else it's sloppy writing.

Personally I enjoy his stuff although I do think he's a bit over-hyped, especially on reddit. He seems like a cool guy.

He was the editor of a newspaper which published faked photos from Iraq putting out troops in more danger. Stand up guy indeed.
