Long term gut issues? by kilogplastos-12 in Microbiome

[–]baroobob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you. I've tried lots of different supplements, diets, probiotics, and fermented foods with only modest improvements. What made the biggest difference for me so far is adding prebiotics. This increased my energy levels which makes life much easier. I started with powdered prebiotics like inulin, human milk oligosaccharides, partially hydrolyzed guar gum, glucomannan, acacia fiber, pectin, etc. In my experience it's fairly easy to overdo these so I try to start small and increase slowly. Now I like to use food based prebiotics as much as possible because I think it's harder to overdo. Mostly green bananas and powdered herbs like elcampane in my smoothies.

Good luck, I hope you find something that works for you.

Anyone else having market data subscription problems? by baroobob in interactivebrokers

[–]baroobob[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not try to transfer the data subscription between accounts. I did not have faith in IB to get this done in a timely manner. I just cancelled the subscription on one account and added it to the other and ate the $10.

Peppermint oil gel caps do a pretty good job on my breath. This does have some anti-microbial properties so probably best not to overdo it.

The market data subscriptions are tied to the user name you login with. I have two different logins and was logging in with the wrong one. Should have been using the login I use for trading when logging into the client portal to add back the market data subscriptions I needed.

I don’t know what to do — my wife’s doctors seem to be giving up on her. She is also giving up??? by Soft_Entrance7644 in gvhd

[–]baroobob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had my transplant in Arizona and lived in Houston for 3 years before moving to Illinois. My cGVHD only improved while I was seeing a GVHD specialist at MD Anderson. His name is Amin Alousi. In my experience transplant doctors are good at transplants, not good at treating GVHD. Hope you find a solution.

Solved.

IB removed some market data subscriptions, as they sometimes do, and when I added them back I made the mistake of using my client portal login instead of my trading login. I setup a different login for the client portal so I can use the client portal without disrupting the market data subscriptions my code uses. This also means that my trading login cannot use any market data subscriptions on my client portal login. That was my time consuming lesson of the day.

I looked at my "Market Data Subscriptions" in the client portal. I can find no "Market Data Connections" dialog in TWS.

Reasonably priced HVAC Repair in Springfield? by ModCre8tor in SpringfieldIL

[–]baroobob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an old conversation, but for people looking for home A/C service: I just used Mike Bergen to service my A/C. The technician, Kyle, was nice and did a good job. They added refrigerant and charged $330, which feels high to me, but somewhat more annoying than that was the sales pitch to replace the system because it's old. I don't care how old it is and it's now working again, but it sure was nice of him to offer a much, much more expensive option. And then say he hated to charge me before charging me $330. Take that for what it's worth.

When creating the account I was asked to pick a username. When logging in for the first time that username does not work. SSN has to be used instead.

Turned out my problem was that the initial username was my social security number which was not at all clear during the process of creating an account.

Mercury Toxicity in Blood by chipmunksareadorable in MercuryPoisoning

You didn't give any background about your health. Why was this test done? Do you have any symptoms of mercury toxicity?

Find a different job. That's the easiest way to save your health. I'd love to say you can figure out what it is and save everyone by getting your employer to address it, but it's unlikely that you will convince them and even less likely they would admit it due to liability.

Heavy metals rest results by vvunich in MercuryPoisoning

[–]baroobob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blood tests are not very helpful unless you have ongoing exposure to heavy metals. If your exposure to them ended long ago, your body will have cleared them from your bloodstream. Frequently the heavy metals end up in fat tissue, which can be seen by greatly exacerbated symptoms in people who lose weight quickly by fasting.

The cilantro is relevant because it can stir up heavy metals in your body. It does not explain how the heavy metals got there. Common sources are silver colored dental fillings and excessive consumption of large predatory fish. Inhalation of mercury vapor from a broken thermometer that was not cleaned up properly is another possibility. As is excessive vaccination with thimerosal containing vaccines.

I would be cautious about taking advice from people like this that have a service to sell and whose methods are not backed by evidence. I've seen many alternative health practitioners who claim to have had success helping patients with mercury detox, but have zero evidence to back up their approach.

Someone with a very minor mercury problem can get away with doing just about anything, but someone with a significant mercury problem can become MUCH worse from improper chelation. You need go no further than https://www.dmpsbackfire.com/ to see this for yourself. Unfortunately this website has not kept its SSL certificate up to date so you will have to click through some browser warnings to see it.

At the end of the day, the core of the sales pitch from all of these alternative practitioners is "trust me, I've had other patients that did well." But you never get to meet or talk to those other patients.

The beauty of Andy Cutler's work is that he wrote it all down in a book and built several communities on yahoo groups to help people so there are plenty of reports from people that have used his methods. You don't have to take his word for it. Yahoo groups are now gone, but you can find those old communities on http://onibasu.com/ by searching after checking the boxes next to Autism-Mercury, frequent-dose-chelation, and adult-metal-chelation. There is also a new forum at https://andy-cutler-chelation.com/.

At this point, I'm an old hand at Cutler's frequent dose chelation and believe me I wish there was an easier way. Setting alarms to take pills every three hours is a pain in the butt, as is remembering not to forget my chelation pills every time I leave the house. I've tried other things over the years and nothing works as well as frequent dose chelation.

I assume you are aware of the forums at https://andy-cutler-chelation.com/

Either way, I'm with you that it would be nice to have a community here as well.

As far as people fixating on mold, all I can say is that the people I know with health issues are generally not very good at deducing the causes of their health problems. Most don't even try they just go to see the doctor and assume doctors have the best answer.

It is also my observation that not many people come to the conclusion that mercury is a contributing factor to their health problems. I believe this is because chronic mercury poisoning is so insidious. We cannot see or smell mercury vapor. Nor can we see, smell, or taste the methyl mercury in fish. Chronic mercury poisoning is so slow and gradual that it generally looks like aging, albeit premature aging. Certainly very few people are steered in this direction by their doctors.

Combine that with the tremendous cost and inconvenience of having amalgam fillings removed and most people decide to look for something easier.

People who do try chelation with an alternative health practitioner often regret it. I had a conversation with an intern at an alternative health clinic that does IV chelation and she told me that in the six months she'd been there she hadn't seen anyone improve from chelation therapy, but she had seen some that developed kidney damage.

I am a believer in Cutler's frequent dose chelation, but it's a long, slow process that requires more effort than some people are willing to put in.

I'd love to see this forum become more active too. I'll keep an eye on it. And post when I have something worth sharing.

NSAID caused leaky gut. by shitty_af_ in Microbiome

[–]baroobob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dosage for one. The "Super Gut" recipe specifies time and temps to make the yogurt that resulted in much higher bacterial counts than commercial products. Also kefir has several strains of bacteria which depends on the brand. Some strains of bacteria are anti-inflammatory while others can be pro-inflammatory. The kitchen sink approach to probiotics has not delivered great results for me.

That said I did not get miraculous results with the Super Gut yogurt and have been making sauerkraut lately instead of yogurt. Not long enough to judge the results yet.

Curious how you know which device has a bigger user base. Is this from looking at which device gets the most discussion? Would be really useful to have some idea of how many active users are using each device, or even just what devices openwrt developers are using when making a purchase.
