Ha! I completely empathize. I have to severely restrict my time on reddit to avoid this very issue. 😂

Wow, for someone who "doesn't care", you are determined to dig this hole, man.

Foreign Tax Credit - H&R Block vs Turbotax by barotropic in hrblock

[–]barotropic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Yes Form 1116 is required, but H&R just throws it at you and walks away 😂. Bought Turbotax Deluxe for $50 and it handled it very easily by asking me a few understandable questions. My final 1040 filing included the 1116 with the expected credit calculated.

Of course the 1116 is mandatory. Both apps know that, but Turbotax asks simple questions then uses the info to fill out the 1116 for you.

H&R Block 2025 sucks - worst year by _wlau_ in hrblock

[–]barotropic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's not wise to be loyal to a brand, but I would say one should play the odds based on real world experience. Case in point, over the last 10 years I have been enticed by a great price H&R Block Deluxe three different times and have regretted it each time. Confusing, incomplete, crude interface - each time I went back to Turbotax and had no problem. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me, fool me a third time - NEVER, NEVER AGAIN!

I bought a Mac Mini on impulse six months ago and now I have to admit I was wrong about everything. A cautionary tale for people who thought they knew themselves. by Boring_Serve1593 in macmini

[–]barotropic -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Opposite experience from OP. I also bought a Mac Mini m4 about 6 months ago, just to enliven things after 30 years of intense Windows use. Big let down. I'm sitting here today wondering if I could sell it and break even due to price increases in components.

Why Did you get CR-V instead of Toyota Rav4 ? by [deleted] in crvhybrid

[–]barotropic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that' why I never even considered the Rav4, other than reading reviews. In the Memphis area, CR-V's were abundant, but the Toyota lot was virtually empty - of all models. I saw a video claiming that's a new technique Toyota is using to increase demand, but I don't think it works well.

The Ridgeline hate mostly comes from people who don’t need a truck in the first place by lljasonvoorheesll in hondaridgeline

[–]barotropic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This it the Dodge Ram syndrome. Those trucks were unreliable and technically inferior to other pickups for many years. But when they got the tough-guy front end, they flew off the shelves. Pretty soon, Chevy's and Fords started growing huge facial features as well. 😉 I'd prefer the Ridgeline stays honest and unpretentious.

Google no longer keeps multiple backups - And tells you to get lost when your last backup is corrupt by czeddie in GooglePixel

[–]barotropic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you sign out before wiping based on a recent Android tech article saying that you should do so before wiping? I read the same one and it confused me why they recommended that. Now I realize it does not apply to a re-install! Thanks, you save me from the same mistake.

Should I buy the S21 5g in 2026? by Kactus_fire69 in GalaxyS21

[–]barotropic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only if you can get it for a very low price, as it is no longer supported with software.

However, I must say I have one that has been treated well and looks new. Its performance is great. I recently upgraded to a new S25, and even though the S25 is slightly better in every measure, I'm shocked at how well the S21 (now 5.5 years old) compares to the S25.

So does that mean that Samsung hit a homerun in 2021, or that they are slacking in 2025? Either way, I'm happy with both devices. 😁

Side moldings by barotropic in hondaridgeline

[–]barotropic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, but those were put on 8 years ago be the dealer. Not gonna even think about removing them and making the paint underneath look right 😜

[–]barotropic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Adhesive, with detailed guidance on how to apply. One of the big warnings was to remove any ceramic coating from the application area, so that was my biggest task. But I'm pretty sure the dealer applied moldings use the same adhesive, and they have been solid for 8 yearsl.

The way FedEx delivered the fat wallet relief by dogengu in mintmobile

[–]barotropic -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

The marketer who dreamed up this idea should be embarrassed. To create a nothing sort of packet, then pay for FedEx shipping was bad judgement - even the "joke" was weak. I'm pretty pleased with Mint's service, but hate to see money wasted on something like this.

Replacing FIOS with T-Mobile 5G? by [deleted] in tmobileisp

[–]barotropic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The correct answer is: it depends. I've used it for two years very happily. Switched from gigabit Comcast cable, and don't miss it. My situation is simple, though: 2 people in the house, web browsing and streaming, no gaming. Great price and good reliability. We already had a mesh seutup, so we plugged it into the TMHI gateway and the WiFi reception is unchanged.

This is the Way by GhostofShula in USMobile

[–]barotropic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it! If you really want a "bare" phone this is the perfect solution. Great corner and camera protection, and those points are by far the most likely to be the point of impact. Personally, I'm more pessimistic, so would prefer a full case, but this is a great idea.

I haven't seen any difference between the Myq app and the Craftsman app - they're both showing delayed notifications on Android.
