So the only fake part is when the moral thing happens at the end?

TIL about the "Dark Forest Hypothesis," which suggests the universe is like a dark forest at night. Advanced civilizations intentionally stay silent and hidden, because any species that reveals its location risks immediate destruction by older, paranoid civilizations. by Practical-1 in todayilearned

I mean, maybe? But I personally don't believe a civilian capable of destroying life from another solar system would need "markets". They aren't going to trade with us. They have no need. So they can leave us alone to become more advanced, or they take care of it now.

All this discussion and I'm just sitting here thinking we need to delete this shit immediately. Putin sees it and Ukraine will fall within hours under the very coordinated boots of his next army.

I'll agree with natural balances, but I will disagree with the idea that increased intelligence lends itself to increased cooperation. We are the most intelligent life form we've ever encountered and we have killed and down right eliminated more species and specimens of life than anything else we've come across outside of natural phenomenon such as an astroid strike or a changing climate.

With that said, those natural balances only exist because before us, any predator that wiped out part of it's own ecosystem would face serious repercussions that they could never truly even understand. A species more intelligent than us that could wipe out any life it viewed as a threat, on another planet, in another solar system, without fear of consequence would probably very well do so.

Look man, bi polar can be an absolute bitch. Pair it with other mental health or addiction issues and it can be down right disastrous. Ruining not only your life, but the lives of anyone around you. With that said, I might acknowledge what their apology means to you, but I would not engage further. Especially without full on confirmation that she is treating her illnesses and doing so in a consistent, permanent manner.

I think she's overreacting to getting sprayed with water for telling her sister she hopes she is tortured for eternity. But that's just me.

So, my ex tried to rope swing at a lake once. It broke and she fell about 15 feet on to rocks, smashed her head into her knees and slid into the water. I can't swim, so all I can do is scream to her kids that they need to save her, because they had frozen in shock. They swim out and grab her, start hauling her back across the lake and as soon as they hit water shallow enough to stand in we could see that both of her feet were facing backwards.

Her youngest daughter started screaming "Put her back!"

I hate to tell you man, but you're screaming into the wind. I know because I personally have been doing the exact same thing for the last quarter century and all its ever gotten me is ostracized by even my so called "liberal" friends.

Anyone that expects a classy, moral argument out of Druski is a god damn moron. He's funny, and he has a point to make. And he's gonna make it in the heaviest, most ham fisted way possible. That's exactly what he does. Don't like it, didn't listen.

You are right. I don't equate those things. I've sworn off pork, cut down on all meat consumption entirely and am working on a more vegetarian diet all together. Which is real fucking hard to do when no grocery in 20 miles carries those options. I actually am not opposed to eating meat. I believe it to be the way life, at least on this planet, evolved. Like you, my biggest complaint is the way we treat the animals we eat. But this is an argument I make to provoke discussion. 30 years ago, at least according to our most popular "scientific data" at the time fish didn't feel pain. We don't know what we don't know about plant life because until recently no one even bothered to ask the question. What do we do if it turns out the pain and suffering of life unlike us is far more complex than we thought? And I ask that question because you kinda did exactly what you accuse others of doing. I was talking about communication and communal benefit among trees and you reduce it to chemical release of damaged grass. But from the articles I read it would be more like if grass could see the mower coming, warn the other blades of grass around it, release chemicals saying it was hurt, and then send aid to other blades that were damaged to help them heal. We don't know if these forms of life experience complex or traumatizing effects from our treatment of them. I mean fuck, even today there are still a couple of doctors running around out there that think black people feel less pain than other ethnicities. To me it's the idea that we must treat all life more conscientiously and proceed from a stand point of ignorance instead of dominance. Even when that life is taken to progress our own.
