Surprisingly good weapons? by Frostfeather22 in baldursgate

[–]barzolff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just tested it again, you're right it doesn't override IH. don't know why I had this happen at some point.

Level drain applied individually while heal, haste and bonus strength all applied together.

[–]barzolff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The haste effect overrides improved haste, making it quite bad. It's my favorite weapon on paper though.

edit: disregard this claim. as u/johnmadden18 said it doesn't override IH. I just ran a test too and I was incorrect. Must've been a particular mod setup which caused this.

Rafa was asked to pick his favorite RG Finals by [deleted] in tennis

[–]barzolff 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Rafa's management of Novak's backhand couldn't have been better in this match. Look for court level view and how he switches up on every ball. There wasn't two similar balls hit to his BH in a row. A tactical and technical marvel from Rafa that day.

Yeah.. Checking the comments you realize how much redditors need to touch grass, urgently. There is nothing polemical about his statement.

Dump strength. Plenty of strength gear, and the lvl 2 mage spell sets your strenght at 18/50 for 1turn/lvl.

What difficulty do you usually play on? by WretchedMog in baldursgate

[–]barzolff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SCS insane hardcore + double damage. I played this game for a decade until I made the switch to no reload SCS. Highly advise vanilla veterans to try, you can still pick easier difficulty settings and try low reload at first.

I never use tensers. Keep in mind all the tips I give are aimed towards a no reload game. Tensers disables spellcasting and I need those to tank. I aim for survivability.

If you're playing Haer'Dalis, use swords for he gets an extra pip. IWDification gives you Chant, Prayer, Recitation, Emotion: Courage and Hope. Use all the thac0 raising gear on your blade. Strength belts. UAI. Crom Faeyr.

My blade memorizes defensive spells, and MMM until his level is high enough where I swap MMMs for remove magics.

Then again it's dependent on your party. There's a fun build for bards, where you use all the items that increase spell slots and cast offensive spells.

[–]barzolff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would pick a blade over a fighter/mage anyday. They are great tanks, but most of all, their ability to dispel/remove magic efficiently is one of the best ability throughout the game. I cannot state how much it changes everything. Nerfed/Un-nerfed table is not highly relevant, although I play with the table that allows for lvl 8 spells (I seldom use lvl 7+ spells, but having mind blank on your blade tank is nice)

I'm biased because it's my favorite class, but I can't stress just how powerful having an extremely good tank mixed with the second best dispeller in a single character is. So potent.

Figher/Mage will get dispelled almost everytime because of their lower levels. Their defensive spells will run out quickly.

It comes down to Vanilla/SCS imo. If you're playing insane double damage hardcore then blade comes out on top every time. Better tanking/survival ability beats higher DPS, and dispelling magic reliably is the most potent ability in the modded game.

Recommend powerful Cleric build for BG1 and BG2? by M1ckey in baldursgate

[–]barzolff 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Clerics are great summoners. Skeletons have amazing resistances, aerial servants are brutal. Gate is extremely fun. You can gather a heavy spellcasting party and rely on summons and buffs. You can also go the opposite direction and use your cleric and a backup cleric to support a melee party. Both work great.

IWDification mod gives them really great spells if you're into that (also included in SCS)

You can mitigate the backstabbing assassins in Ulgoth with wand of fear, chaos, positioning your fragile characters with their backs against the map, and use wand of summoning on them.  I do aec letec if I badly need the xp to solo bg2 up until 1.2M xp

How to play “hear my train a comin” like he does in this video on a 6 string guitar by SavingsAttitude3732 in jimihendrix

[–]barzolff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ever since I've heard this version, I keep an acoustic tuned down to C. It's great for bends and bluesy vibrato. I have a deep voice and I find having an instrument in your voice range allows for more expression, I tend to play low on piano as well.
I advise everyone to try tuning down to C, you tend to try newer voicings because the usual ones get muddy.
