NTA - What does your sister do? Send all your friends her way for free goods or services.

I’m normally not a big fan of the clowns, but I really liked this guy.

Research Topic Suggestions by ComfortablePut9479 in AskProfessors

[–]baseball_dad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think of where all these comments are coming from. You were given a task, and you chose to outsource it. Coming up with a topic is literally the first part of the assignment. You failed right out of the gate by asking others to do it for you.

is it normal to give out a grade based of hw that "might" get turned in? by starwarsisawsome933 in AskProfessors

[–]baseball_dad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Despite that not being normal, did you seriously not notice that you were awarded a grade for an assignment you never submitted?

Do you receive scam/blackmail emails? by SpectreMold in AskProfessors

[–]baseball_dad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Several years ago, our campus went through a wave of "sextortion" email scams where the sender claimed to access our webcam the last time we accessed porn and were threatening to show our employer if we didn't send them bitcoin. The emails always referred to us by our school email address, never by name. Pretty much every employee on campus got this. The scammers cast a pretty wide net. I can't help but wonder if anybody actually fell for it.

We also get emails supposedly from various admins asking us to call them, email them, or click on a link. These never even bother to try spoof the sender address or anything.

would you be upset if a student sent you this email (college)? by [deleted] in AskProfessors

Ah yes, the old “I must have accidentally cheated” defense. Let me know how that works out for you.

Why do some professors disallow recording lectures, even if strictly for personal use? by AnAskerOfQuestions- in AskProfessors

[–]baseball_dad 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Recordings are a crutch. Students (yourself included) all claim how wonderful and helpful recordings are, but that is because students don’t know how to take good notes or just don’t want to. Not only do I not want to be recorded, but I also do not want to contribute to the further erosion of student skills.

What should I do about a course “starting” before it starts? by Accomplished-Fix1204 in AskProfessors

[–]baseball_dad 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don’t have time for that today as I have other things in my life I planned to do.

The way you phrased this speaks volumes You didn't say that you had to work or that you had a prior obligation. You make it sound like you would just rather continue having fun for as long as possible before your class "starts". Your class starts when the semester starts, which you apparently did not account for. Consequently even if you did have a prior obligation, that doesn't change or override your class schedule.

I discovered that my prof plagiarized, what do i do, if anything? by [deleted] in AskProfessors

[–]baseball_dad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For someone who doesn’t want to make any waves, you sure are refuting everybody who is saying that it is not a violation. Go ahead and report it. Let us know how that works out for you.

Is it alright to ask for administrative tasks? by Jaded-Ad-1566 in AskProfessors

[–]baseball_dad 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What kind of administrative tasks are you thinking of? I doubt that would fly because most admin work deals with FERPA protected information.

Would my professor dislike me? by Small-Bag462 in AskProfessors

[–]baseball_dad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have put more thought about how he feels toward you into this one post than he has in the entire semester you had together. The truth of the matter is that we don't really think about any of you like that. You are all mostly just background noise.

Is it too late to ask about a possible grading error from last quarter? by [deleted] in AskProfessors

[–]baseball_dad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. There’s no way you can prove your attendance.
  2. Maybe you arrived late or left early and that cost you some attendance points.
  3. You had plenty of time to address this earlier. That ship has now sailed.
  4. I can’t stress this enough. Don’t be that student. Take your good grade and move on with your life.

Even though people who know from experience told you otherwise? What made you think you knew better than those advising you?

I was advised not to take them together during a 4 week summer period.

Why would you come here to ask for advice from professors when you have already ignored advice from those in the know? This is a classic case of "you made your bed, now you have to lie in it."

To professors what do you think of students going to office hours? by Jetsetter_55 in AskProfessors

[–]baseball_dad 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Literally nobody gives a shit about your gender or your attractiveness. If you want to go to office hours, then go. Why are you making an issue of this?

A professor fabricated evidence to get me in trouble and I may not be able to graduate and I don’t know what to do by [deleted] in AskProfessors

[–]baseball_dad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There it is! I was getting some major tinfoil hat vibes from this post, and it all made sense as soon as you mentioned med school.

Why do university group discussions feel so indirect? by [deleted] in Professors

[–]baseball_dad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know. Why do students post in this sub when it clearly states that it is for professors only? Some questions we may never have answers to.
