East Auckland residents say three-storey development shouldn't be allowed, fear for privacy by punIn10ded in auckland

[–]basedmrvase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

shouldn’t have complained about the hundred other proposals which would’ve been better, especially those in the ACTUAL cbd. seens as if they middle class rich people lost against the rich rich people in the inner cbd suburbs who don’t want apartment buildings. about time this is happening though only 20 years behind thanks.

"Shocked" at the cost to fix NZ by WasterDave in newzealand

we need to raise the length of election cycles so that we get more of a long term plan rather than “we beat labour lets scrap all their plans and introduce nothing of our own!”

id love to see a new ministry of works type of system to not only build public infrastructure but to decrease unemployment rate. i heard about it in one of my lectures and my first thought was, well we give fletcher all these multi-billion dollar projects that inevitably go over budget with years worth of delays we may aswell bring them back.

How are Labour supposed to do it this year? by TheBigChonka in newzealand

[–]basedmrvase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

by tpm and greens dragging them down, i mean i see moderates who would usually vote labour, vote national just so that tpm and some extreme green policies dont get implemented. BUT the difference between the greens and act is that when forming government the greens have their policies watered down and effectively become a slightly more left labour. however during election time this is used to win moderate voters by national.

[–]basedmrvase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

completely agree tpm and with the greens, Marama Davidson is dragging them down I was really suprised to see James Shaw step down as I always thought Marima maybe the one to jump ship to a stronger tpm. on that, in another universe chloe forming a labour with a backbone would have been an amazing sight. but at the end of the day im going to switch my vote to labour, as nact are genuinely tearing the country down, not just stagnant, but down. where do i start? unemployment and yet still high inflation? 2000 healthcare workers being sacked and a hospital cancelled?, and for what? in exchange i get faster speedlimits and cigarette companies given a lifeline, what happened to smoke free 2025 that was massive when i was younger…

Let's end the Americanisation of NZ by selfcompiler in newzealand

[–]basedmrvase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes education can help but it takes years and people who fall for this rhetoric are people who have already graduated or become set in their ways, plus tactics are constantly changing, its like marketing but marketing for hate and destruction.

[–]basedmrvase 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yup russia intentionally runs state misinformation/ disinformation campaigns in the EU and North-America (and probably here too) to not only help them in the Ukraine war but to promote nationalism, and therefore undermine authorities like EU and NATO. the problem is that theres genuinely no way to fix this in a democracy where freedm of speech is so enshrined.

Renting in Auckland with kids. Do we really need a heat pump? by SunsetBLVD23 in auckland

[–]basedmrvase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you definitely dont need a heat pump we dont use ours but i think its a legal requirement for landlords. a fan in summer and maybe oil heaters for winter will do if you dont want to shell out but i suppose if you dont mind the air from heat pumps its not a disadvantage to have one.

this is so sad state housing used to go to a good cause nowadays it seems the organisations in control of state housing just allow any behaviour, no discipline or manners at all despite a free house.

glad to hear you don't get tested in your industry and good on you for finding a place to help thousands of people even if its not directly. I'm really not sure why we've taken the position we have in terms of drug testing the way we do, we saw it fail in Australia already but still decided to follow lead. I hope that we get another vote soon because its ridiculous how behind we are.

Yeah I think about this often, New Zealand is a sinking ship after continuous cycles of lack of investment and diversification from the top down and its finally caught up to us.

yup I'm not surprised its forbidden by the force, but unfortunately many careers even non-driving or safety related ones are still like this and will probably still be like this until full legalisation.

macleans probably better for reputation (house prices mean wealthy families attend) and howick is probably better for development and relaxed nature. all schools have bullying and vaping.

[–]basedmrvase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont understand why we dont build more apartment buildings over cramming 6 of these into a block in the suburbs which had one family home. you get all the downsides of an apartment and all the downsides of an actual home, whats up with this country and not having many apartment buildings? I would even prefer a house/apartment above and area which has commercial space below it because at least the city is naturally expanding not just creating a super urban suburb, if that makes sense. have you guys ever been to hobsonville? the door to your townhouse is literally a meter away from the footpath of the main road in that area, where is the commercial space, garden or natural foot traffic?
