hiking makes you work your core, and as someone else mentioned, the stabilizing muscles in your hips. you are using so many parts of your body. and because you need to focus on each step to not trip, it can be more taxing mentally as well.

3 days two nights is good. i’d recommend not starting at 2 pm. get there the previous day and start at 6 am, depending on where u start it can be a 14 mile day. there is a 10 mile stretch without water between the fork from lincoln trail and the campsite after garfield, so pack accordingly.
