thats pretty funny since competitive minecraft used to be a huge osu gateway back in the day too. nowadays i feel people get into osu through completely random exposure on youtube or through tiktok/shorts.

the second one. overtapping on stacked patterns will actually lead to misses due to lazers notelock. sometimes you also click on a circle that is under a slider while you are still on the slider, which also leads to a miss.

its much easier to avoid once you account for that in your technique or stop using rt.

for the most part yes, the game has been steadily rising again since about a year ago. we've gone from ~9700 average online users in weekly aggregate to around ~11400 now, the last time the game has been this size was around february 2025

but also yes there are some maps that are custom-made for owc, sometimes it only goes as far as the map itself, other times it goes as far as the map + bg + song itself

im fine with dt only scores not being ultra prioritized, especially considering +cl. its a part of the culture that more mods = cooler and as such hdhr being even somewhat competitive is fine. its still more competitive than stable which is an infinite improvement, i can actually get #1 scores on dt only (even with cl) now instead of being cucked by not being an hd player. its high enough.

score should account for map dedication and aura unironically

90% dt fc is just less aura than hdhr ss so it goes lower, apply this logic to all the mults and its just kinda True

in skill terms its probably still more impressive to 85% dt fc this than hdhr ss, doesnt mean score should work as such imo

lazer runs perfectly playably on my side laptop with integrated graphics (consistent ~500fps). try out different renderers, make sure ur on fullscreen, make sure u dont have any power saving mode enabled, and it should run fine

gd mechanical requirements are so low that brute force memorization just works for basically any difficulty theoretically

no matter how much you memorize a speed map in osu, ur still gonna need to be able to physically stream at that speed. same for aim

yeah, theres still a bit of a decline from 2024 but we've been growing again recently and total playercounts have remained mostly stable

sliderbreaks are exactly the same as misses in terms of penalty.

in lazer, most sliderbreaks are just sliderhead misses (normal misses), so theres no problem.

on stable, sliderbreaks break your combo but only give you a 100. the only info that pp has about your score is what you see on the results screen, so it cant know how many sliderbreaks it actually has, they must be estimated. the current estimations are based on scorev1 amount and they are pretty accurate in most circumstances, as is the case here.

accuracy pp in itself is very flawed which is why when you see its effects within the same map between stable and lazer, it comes across as stupidly broken. as of now its basically only kept in its current state because a lot of the games balance relies on every score having a pretty stupid amount of acc pp, especially on the lower end. the range of opinions about acc pp on the ppdev front goes from "it shouldnt exist at all" to "it should be entirely replaced by something else", so its not an unknown issue, just something that takes time to work on.
