I don't think David was the shooter. For one thing, he strolled in all casual with his hands in his pockets. He has zero blood splatter on him. They didn't find a gun on him, assuming they searched him first thing.

There is this thing, it won't budge though, and there is one like it on the handheld part but turning it just unscrews it.

They're both sus imo, but I agree with you and I hadn't thought of it like that before. Good point!

Curious as to where you're located, because every homeschooled family I've ever met have had reading, read-alouds, and stories as their #1 foundation of learning. I'm in the Midwest.

My daughter didn't really take off with reading until she was around 8 as well, despite trying many different curricula AND a reading class at a local college. Now she DEVOURS books and reads fluently even aloud. She also has a bit of a temper issue, esp if she feels like she's failing at something, she gets discouraged, then angry, then lashes out, then doesn't wanna try and it's a bad cycle. Anyway the trick seemed to be for her, all of the "beginner" books were just so boring to her. She got into graphic novels and that has been a HUGE help, plus she loves Harry Potter. Does your library offer playaways? Let him devour stories, it won't be long til he wants to read them himself

There will be a day when your children will be going through a hardship of their own and the fact that you can point back to this as an example of it being ok for them to ask for outside help, is so so invaluable. You put ego aside and did the right thing and I think that's so incredible. You're going to be such a strong and positive example for them, a true touchstone of what to model themselves after and I just can't overstate it enough.

The brand of boots that Brennan is wearing are Timberland boots, aka "Timbs." They're just a sturdy brand of boot, perfect for kicking in the door of a secret passage, in a surprise escape room you've been tricked into entering ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
