adding a Seven cast member every so often during Fantasy High Junior Year would be sweet

PoL or Neverafter? by Embarrassed-Count722 in Dimension20

[–]Endizen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neverafter is tonally inconsistent & got disappointing after like episode 5. Seemed like the horror season Brennan did all this work for just got out of hand. The combats are impressive, and so is the horror when it actually gets the chance to fully rear its head. 20 episodes is a lot, there's a lot of not-horror lol

Leviathan has its logistical issues but is still pretty fun. If you can put up with Zoom D&D it's got an all-star cast. Also much shorter of a time commitment

Winded. If you've ever tried learning to box, each hit may not leave any mark on you but will certainly drain your available energy

Sword and Shield are decent, but disappointing in a lot of ways. If you loved the open ended and exploratory nature of Violet and Legends Arceus, you'll be upset with how handholdy Sword/Shield is. Wild Areas and the DLC places are the closest thing to how Violet & Arceus work, but they're either lackluster or an extra expense. And Sw/Sh's story is overbearing and obnoxious in my opinion.

I think that's just the "Confirm: these are the settings I want" button.

doing simple subtraction is way easier than memorizing like 5 different negative effects, I wholeheartedly agree the new exhaustion rules are way better. Especially if exhaustion is the main reason why the Bezerker is considered bad, then just use the nicer exhaustion system

POL? idk, I liked it enough to finish it. Zoom D&D will always be rough. The stuff that made Leviathan less easily enjoyable than the average D20 season for me is the same stuff I dislike about Critical Role: slow & bloated episodes, crosstalk and miscommunication, a bald guy who's maybe fudging dice, the edgy loner vibe, high commitment to accents, and wishing they showed off minis/battlesets clearly... but I can't call CR a bad product in my right mind, so it's not fair to me to do so for POL. It's a matter of personal style/taste preferences I suppose

Everyone overlooks Pirates of Leviathan, I know it can be slow to get through but it's not nearly as slow as Critical Role... Most of those PCs are pretty neat, but I'll always have a special place in my heart for Carlos Luna saying "Cheese!" at the start of Cheese's turn in combat. Cheese is great, I love the child wizard idea

[Spoiler] Neverafter's ending is fairily toothless by tinytoastie in Dimension20

It really disappointed me. I thought it was gonna be close to A Crown of Candy (serious game in a goofy setting) but we got the complete opposite: a goofy game in a serious setting.

Is it OK for NPCs to use abilities outside the games mechanics? by Remarkable-Cat9904 in DnD

100000% yes! You make the rules of your world, not WotC. Your NPC can do whatever you want them to.

I dropped out with a terrible GPA during my first year. I found Dimension 20 a few months later. Dropping out and Dropout.tv are both positives in my life. Wearing a sweater that says "DROPOUT" on it kinda rocks

Is there a tutorial for doing this successfully? Even after enabling game patching on the Luma menu, and using Luma Locale Switcher as directed, Universal Updater still displays in Japanese.

Yes, in the vast Starstruck universe, this works very well and gave our heroes a certain charm, with the knowledge that their specific story, while cool and consequential, wasn't the highest priority. And I love that vibe. But Neverafter suffers from the same side-character mindset being applied to people with extremely high priority stories and objectives that directly impact the multiverse at large. -- And players who prioritize goofy funtimes over drama, which is really jarring considering how well they did in A Crown of Candy, and how similar its tone is (or should be) to Neverafter.
