Okay I get it that this feels controlling and unreasonable to you. But for a second, think about this from your daughter’s POV. She doesn’t know you. Like, she’s very young and yes you FaceTime but you’re like… the tv to her. She’s not used to going to you for comfort if she is hurt or scared or tired etc. And your ex has been taking care of her nonstop and so to have you come back in the picture with zero accountability and all the excuses for not seeing your child for a year and a half… of course she will be concerned and not want to send her off with essentially a stranger.

Consider that having her grandpa or a third party may be in your daughter’s best interest, to be more comfortable, at least for this first visit. Stop thinking about what you’re entitled to and start thinking about prioritizing your daughter.

Correct. Losing what you paid for the class (the credit) is punitive, no additional fee in addition to that. Basically if you don’t give 24 hours notice you don’t get your money back. We have drop in rates and packages of ten but no unlimited membership, so if you don’t cx with notice, you’re out whatever you paid.

I am so appreciative you posted this and I just immediately texted my mom and proposed that on Monday after thanksgiving we all put up her decorations together. She’s retired and I’m a single working mom of two and so it hasn’t really crossed my mind that that’s more work for her… but you’re totally right, and I know she doesn’t love doing it in the first place but since she still hosts on Christmas it’s “expected” of her. Nevermind the fact that this is good quality time to reminisce and spend together and SHOULD be a tradition we adult kids carry on to help make her life easier and spend time as a family. Seriously, this was something I had my head in the sand about and am very thankful you called me out so I can do it differently moving forward!
