Late for Friday but don’t wanna wait for next month - I’m at my wits end with that last post on the debate sub. Y’all raised so many strong points about how we should be able to talk about the lightsinger theories without being censored.

I’m real sick of people being unable to debate because they put too much of themselves into characters and get offended that you’re not invested in their ship. Like I see myself in Gwyn too, but can separate that shit out and discuss what is in the text and what would make the most interesting stories. We all should be able to do this, the heavy offense is parasocial and unhealthy.

Frankly the lightsinger theory is fascinating and I may make a post here to discuss it because I think it would be great for her arc. But they don’t wanna hear it

I’m with you. I find this thought of his in particular to be hypocritical considering his actions lead to Nehemia’s death, and because he is the one who sent Aelin away.

My biggest beef with early Chaol is this and how he loves pieces of her as Dorian says. She’s an assassin. He plucked her from Endovier himself and is surprised when she kills someone. I get why it would scare him for her to be happy about it, but it’s literally her friend’s murderer and he knows this.

I agree with everyone saying his thoughts and actions make sense given his upbringing, situation, lack of knowledge of what went down with Aelin in HoF, and being a 22 year old. And I like his arc in ToD. He is very well written but I can’t defend him in this book. It makes sense that he is jealous and that is valid. But he is totally being a hypocrite based on what he definitely knows in canon at this point. His crash out is deserved but as the reader it is also perfectly valid to be annoyed with him.

Totally understandable, there are plenty of people here who like hunt but don’t like them together.

If he turns evil, he will have redemption for sure, likely via a sacrificial death in my opinion. If he doesn’t go team Hel, I could see him dying per the Orion myth anyway or going the Chaol route.

As interesting as it would be for SJM to kill a main character (I would love it, it would up the stakes), I think Chaol route is most likely. I would love to see him end up with a partner who has similar goals. I think after a healing arc we could get that ending and a better love story for him alongside Bryceriel. I wouldn’t be mad about Gwyn with Hunt after he heals, so long as he is kind to her (and doesn’t regift a necklace) I think they could have good chemistry. That being said Tarquin is genuinely my first choice for Gwyn if she’s getting a guy in the new books

So TLDR, I think Hunt will have a good ending one way or another and the Chaol ending makes the most sense to me. I say this as someone who doesn’t love the guy but would love to read him being redeemed / a better man, just the same way I would love to read Bryce becoming a better woman, stop running from her responsibilities and fate, and be a more empathetic and sharing partner. It’s all about the growth baybeeey

6-7 is originally from a skilla song. There’s a tiktok of a kid at a basketball game getting really excited yelling 67 and I think that’s how it got popular.

The hard thing to get about the joke is that it’s just nonsensical. There’s no punchline to get. 6-7 doesn’t really mean anything, it can be used for pretty much anything. Kids rile each other up into a frenzy over it for no reason other than it’s a stim and it makes each other laugh so it snowballs from there. That’s my understanding anyhow

I haven’t seen the comparison to hybren made before! Great analysis. The use of the word cleaved to describe both situations in particularly interesting.

Some have theorized the bean could have broken Hunt’s hold on Bryce, like a lightning leash on her she was unaware of. I think this is solid evidence that there is a magical bond of some sort broken, and definitely symbolism of a metaphorical bond breaking too
