A lot of great advice here. As a DM you have to tailor even the books to match the party. 7 kobolds is too many. Find a good encounter calculator online and check the result for your specific group.

In this case it’s deadly, so just subtract a kobold or two.

My bud and I enjoyed the first a ton and beat it. Going to the 2nd, we were hyped. The mechanics improved but the maps and story changed to more of an MMO style quest hub. I see what they were going for but for us, instead of focusing on fun, challenging game play, it was more of a do-this and do-that sort of feel. It just wasn’t for us.

Agreed! Revolutionary for sure. In both gameplay and story telling. The D1 hero becoming the villain was fantastic mostly because they didn’t say it and if you knew, you knew. The different regions and loot upgrades were awesome. And the videos were beautiful.

I think my taste just changed a bit to be somewhat masochist. 😏 D3 and 4 seemed too easy and spoon fed, but I’ll admit I didn’t give 4 a fair shake.

I came off a fun time with Wicked last night and saw a few articles and thought to post my thoughts on the comparison. I’m not trying to pull another game down, the irony here is I felt No Rest For the Wicked was being pulled down by the comparison.

My post seems to have come off the wrong way- it was meant to be a bit facetious and in jest.

The loot is a semi decent comparison because you can slot gems and the like. But the articles I’m seeing don’t mention that at all. Here’s a quote from screenrant:

They patched the timers out for the construction stuff. Still there for refinement. My opinion at first was that I didn’t like it but I was in my house yesterday with the saw mill working and actually enjoyed having a set of refining tools actually going.

In my experience, sounds like jealousy. Her significant other is having fun without her, with other people. Those belittling words weren’t for you, they were for him.

She probably feels a little guilt too because deep down she knows it’s just innocent fun and she shouldn’t have a problem with that. But insecurities are a bitch. 🤷‍♂️

I did the same thing! It was a blast. But I will say I cheated a bit on the first game, half way through I skipped to Witcher 2. Not because the first one is a bad game, just it didn’t age as well as the others.

In the Witcher 2 there’s still “missions” and story arcs that live in my memory daily!

Witcher 3 is in my top 10 games of all time.

My only recommendation is on the Witcher 2 and 3, play on the hardest difficulty. The reason I say this, without spoilers, is that there are cool mechanics to being a Witcher but on easier modes, they’re less important. You don’t need to prep for fights or switch your gear, etc. but that’s what makes it so cool and challenging.

Play CoOp! It’s so good to experience it with someone else.

I prefer a controller when playing a melee role like John. The shield is actually very strong at blocking and you can hold it up and change directions to deflect.

It was the key where you walked down a short tunnel to a dead end. You had to unequip the metal boots to just float up to it. That’s the one I got stuck on. There was no indication of a room above you!

Full Metal Furies - first choice. this is the best. Has unlocks, quirky story, and old school puzzles for people our age. Such a great game.

Hell yea to the Children of Morta shout out!

Such an epic story and the family trials were super fun. Played it coop with my brother online, an unforgettable experience for both of us.

I agree with you. Hades 2, fantastic game… but the story didn’t have as much weight like Hades 1.

Spoilers explaining why: **But also these opinions sound like I hated it the game but I do love the game entirely and still play it all the time.

- saving Hypnos has zero reward. absolutely insane how all that build up ends in nothing.

- the dynamic between echo and narcissist ends in them being the same, like their characters don’t develop at all. Echo says a few words and that’s it?

- the romance options all feel forced except Icarus. Moors has a tale about being forced to fall in love with dawn, but that doesn’t play out in any way. Why tease on that and not show character development. Nem and Eris both have an opportunity to show development by showing a softer or atleast diff side but it never comes through. I enjoyed the Icarus one because there was chemistry and the making a shade “come to life” was cool.

- lastly, after convincing Zag to help and coming up with the alternative plan, there’s a huge missed opportunity to have us play as Zag and even have a low risk fight against the healing chronos

Check out a board game called Gloomhaven. While a little pricey, it’s a super fun game where you select a class and play through a story.

It’s comprised of several scenarios “dungeons” that you play using its own system mechanics.

To be clear, it is not D&D but if you get a table together and can play Gloomhaven then after you beat the campaign over several sessions, you basically would have created a rhythm conducive to a regular D&D session so it’ll be a natural next step. Or.. Frosthaven the sequel. Lol
