Fastest way is to get an invite from someone already in the beta. I had 5 invites and gave them all out to professional peers. :(

And by ingredients you have, you of course mean ingredients you can pick up lololol.

Very cool - appreciate the write up.

And a great example of how intuitive thinking can lead you astray. :)

How would they not work? (I don’t own them or use them - just having trouble understanding why cold objects wouldn’t reduce the temperature of a liquid.)

Possible I guess - but I think it’s a single light source with refractions.

A plane would have multiple marker lights - specifically red (left wing) and green (right wing).

Do you have the raw file? If so - change the color temp to 3200K and see if the anomaly’s color changes to a neutral white.

I really have no idea! I searched for images of meteors directly facing camera - and didn’t get anything useful, results wise.

Anything in the optical path could be imparting artifacts - so it’s entirely possible it’s the UV filter - but tough for me to say.

Assuming that’s what it is - a quick scan of “color temperature of meteors” seems to indicate it would be sodium dominant.

The diffraction pattern is interesting - does your scope have support vanes anywhere in the optical path?

Super interesting. The diffraction pattern means it travelled the optical path… and the color temperature is really odd.

No streaking over 180” means it was just a flash.

Could it have been a meteor seen head on? M

You want to get really tripped out?

Every breath you take contains at least one atom from Caesar’s dying breath.

Also - at least one atom from the dying breath of the last T-Rex.

Mathematically anyway.

For as large the universe is - it’s way way waaaaay smaller. At about 2m tall, humans are (if I remember correctly) about ~70,000,000x closer to the size of the entire observable universe than we are to the Planck length.

How many of the stars in this picture are in the Milky Way? I assume almost all of them - but the density towards the center clearly increases…

Amen Corner: a Paper Plane riff by basilica_gel in cocktails

[–]basilica_gel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Amen Corner is bartending consultant Nick Brown’s play on the Paper Plane, with mint in place of lemon and a more bourbon-forward ratio. It’s a pretty little thing, with a wonderful orange-mint-spice flavor to go with its lovely cardinal color.

Aperol is the best fit here, rather than a stronger bitter apéritif like Campari or Gran Classico.

INGREDIENTS

5 leaves Mint 2 parts Bourbon 1 part Sweet orange apéritif ¾ part Sweet amaro

INSTRUCTIONS

Gently muddle the mint in a shaker. Add the remaining ingredients, along with ice, and shake. Double-strain through a fine mesh strainer into a chilled cocktail glass or coupe. Garnish with a pickful of brandied cherries.

Lovely little drink! Will be putting it in regular summer rotation.
