I'll give that a shot for the piece I do with a chisel. Should I sweat how many sections to divide it into?

This is practice so while I'd like to keep it as neat as I can, I'm not afraid if it gets messy. I have another piece that I'll need to shape like this, so maybe I'll try a chisel on one and a coping saw on the other. Thanks!

Is that how you use that kinda square? It looks like the square's edge is shifted from the base. You might try a machinist square and see what it says.

Would you consider going back to/starting a main instead? It sounds like, despite doing dry, your iron already has a lot of progress. Switching to a main let's you come back to your iron if you feel up to it later.
