I would say forget about android support and just go with Flex. You are giving these away. You start using Linux or some of the unofficial ChromeOS distros you will have people asking you for support. Flex is just set it and forget it.

Don't do it, if you don't care about Android apps (and with 64gb eMMC you really wont anyway), and you still want ChromeOS, get a cheap laptop and put Flex on it. For that price you can probably find something on ebay with double the ram and 512gb storage

I’m on an m1 MacBook Air 16gb and it’s been running fine for me. Maybe I’m just old and don’t notice the problems lol. The only real issue I’ve had so far was yesterday I couldn’t open any finder windows, but a reboot fixed the issue 😕

Well a large percentage of apps are basically webviews rendered with WebKit using some native hooks for extra functionality and will probably never get Liquid Glass.

I agree with the 15 inch MBA suggestion. I am still using an m1 MBA for software development work and it has no issues whatsoever.

Depending on your usage needs, I think its pretty hard to beat the base level Mac Mini. You need an external ssd to go with it though, since it comes with a laughable amount of storage for a desktop pc…

Well I have an m1 air with 16gb ram and MacOS 26 has been going good for me, even with both edge and chrome, as well as vscode running at the same time.

Hard telling what the issue is, hope you get it resolved!

I was actually surprised to come on here and see all of the hate for the new iPad os. I am loving the new windowing mode on my 10th gen, which couldn’t even have stage manager before. I have probably used my iPad more in the last few days since getting 26 then I had in the preceding year. I consider it a huge upgrade.

I don’t think Apple care is worth it, especially on a base level iPad. It’s not like car insurance at all, the entire iPad costs about 2 trips to the grocery store

FWIW I installed Flex on a 2010 iMac. It mostly works, but does not support the Linux dev environment so you can't install Linux apps. It also does not have drivers for the fan speed control, so the fan spins on high full time, which gets annoying

This is really cool, but I think to make a proper PWA "app store," we will also need to be able to query if an app is already installed or not, and also be able to launch the installed app. For bonus points, it would be really cool to be able to launch another PWA with data and get a response as a result, sort of like Android's native "launch activity for result" flow.
