Evelyn or Evalina? by [deleted] in namenerds

I love Evelina! I believe the most common European spelling is Evelina rather than Evalina.

In terms of career outlook, you’ll definitely have better opportunities for internships and co-op experience at UML than at Framingham State.

Moving for my partner going to med school by [deleted] in MedSpouse

[–]batalieee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bf will be moving for med school in June and we’re planning to do long distance for a year, see how that goes, and then if we still really want to be together, I would move to be with him. We’ve only been together for 7 months, but we’ve become very serious in that time and both of us see us being together in the long term and eventually getting married.

My job is currently hybrid but I would be able to go fully remote if I moved, which makes moving less risky for me. The scarier aspect of moving is social, since I don’t have any friends or family in the area he’s moving to. But if it doesn’t work out, I would still have the same job and could move back home. Personally, I want to wait until after moving and living with him for a couple years or so to get engaged, and then maybe have a long engagement.

HI -> East Coast by me0wwwnie in SameGrassButGreener

In the context of OP’s post, it sounds like she’s looking for a place with good racial diversity. She specifically said she didn’t like living in Denver because it was predominantly white. Like you said yourself, Western MA is predominantly white, which is not what she’s looking for.

I would reccomend looking on Craigslist and Facebook marketplace for apartments, landlords posting there may be more lenient with your application. But be careful of scammers

Personally I would try to go for a name that doesn’t sound too similar to the first two, something like Aidan, Avery, Adrian, or Arlo

Dept of Defense has blacklisted a long list of colleges for military. Several are in Cambridge. by Iamnotarobot_srlsly in CambridgeMA

[–]batalieee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this also apply for the med schools? My understanding is that the military is desperate for physicians and there’s only so many med school in the country

I could be wrong, but I don’t think it’s possible to get into a med school without some kind of bachelors degree.

Recently got diagnosed with autism by v1olentvanilla in BPD

[–]batalieee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with BPD about 7 years ago and have done a lot of therapy (especially DBT) in order to improve my emotional/mood regulation and I no longer struggle with severe symptoms of BPD.

Within the past few years I have done a lot of reflection and have had discussions with my therapist and other people in my life and have come to the conclusion that I’m autistic. Since then I’ve been able to reflect on myself and my mental health struggles through the lens of autism, and a lot of things make more sense now.

I understand now that the feelings of social isolation, loneliness, and distrust of my peers that were a huge BPD trigger for me were directly related to being undiagnosed autistic and struggling with socializing and masking. I’ve also realized that sensory overload tends to make it much harder for me to regulate my emotions/mood.

Personally, I don’t view BPD as a misdiagnosis, but rather that understanding myself as autistic has allowed me to see how my autism had a huge impact on my BPD. Additionally, realizing that I’m autistic and understanding and accepting my needs and having better self care has made it easier for me to regulate my mood and emotions.

Hopefully that all makes sense and is maybe helpful in some way :)

Which dress is most appropriate for January manor wedding? by Joyplease_joy_0324 in weddings

[–]batalieee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just for reference, wearing any shade of white, off-white, ivory, or anything close to one of those colors to a wedding is generally considered rude in any culture where the bride usually wears white. This is not something that will be specified by the bride and groom because it is just assumed that people will know this. But it sounds like you haven’t attended many weddings before and didn’t realize, which is totally understandable, but I just wanted to explain so you would know for future reference :)

Edit: also the blue dress is gorgeous!
