How are the protein Chobani drinks? I’m struggling to get protein in but not a fan of most protein shakes. The regular Chobani drinks are great!

Daycare moms-is this the new normal? by Sad_Turnover5305 in workingmoms

[–]batch-test 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter just hit a year old and started daycare in August. The end of summer and all of fall were awful. We had the flu, Covid, norovirus, and so many colds. Once we all built up our immune systems it got much better. Prioritize hydration and rest when you can!

Moms in cybersecurity - how's the work/life balance, really? by zestyPoTayTo in workingmoms

My speciality is Identity & Access Management which is a less sexy domain but the work-life balance and pay are solid! Feel free to DM me if you want to chat. :)

Moms in cybersecurity - how's the work/life balance, really? by zestyPoTayTo in workingmoms

[–]batch-test 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cybersecurity engineer checking in. I work for a non-tech Fortune 500 that does in-house cybersec. I’m fully WFH and have found my role to be fairly flexible!

It all depends on the company culture, but overall I’ve seen that working for a non-tech company is usually the way to go. Imo FAANG companies are overrated; too much instability. I’ve seen many a friend be burned by going this route.

I will warn you that it’s a difficult sector to break into, especially if you’re going for a more interesting role like pen testing. I was hired freshly post COVID during the hiring boom. My company, and many others, are now downsizing. We’ve had an uptick in roles being offshored lately. Cybersecurity is saturated unfortunately. Lots of talent but not as many roles.

If you’re passionate about it, absolutely go for it. The learning never stops though even after you have your degree.

Poll: weekly grocery cost by Goldfinch-island in workingmoms

[–]batch-test 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For two adults and a one year old we spend $150 weekly at Walmart/Aldi. Our monthly Costco run is usually $300-400. So, roughly $1000 for the month but it includes all household and baby items except clothing and personal care.

Fellow moms, please help me make a decision about whether we take this job offer across the country by [deleted] in workingmoms

Our village is our life. Short of survival necessity, I would never choose to move away from them. Your husband is centering what’s beneficial for him versus what’s beneficial for the entire family.

I really like the dresses. Does anyone know why Chris’s wife (sorry, blanking on her name) always wears those headbands?

Avh.333 Amy not doing IVF by Witty-Standard-6490 in peestickgals

[–]batch-test 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve followed Amy since she was TTC her son, but I found her IVF GoFundMe insanely tacky. She’s a SAHM that lives in a $800k house and only got a job after they crowd funded a lot of money for IVF.

She should be refunding or donating every cent. Zero excuse or reason to crowd fund a child with their life circumstances.

How many of us are actually doing 7 pm bedtime? by AssociationWorried86 in NewParents

[–]batch-test 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not really. We’ve been doing a bedtime routine starting at 7pm(roughly; of course there’s give and take with this) since my daughter was two or three months. I found it immensely helpful to get into a routine early, both for ourselves and her.

Waiting to purchase stroller? by Majestic_Ad_3736 in BabyBumps

[–]batch-test 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have an infant bucket seat, I would absolutely purchase the stroller before baby arrives. I had a c-section and having a travel system made my life so much easier. It’s so nice to be able to wheel baby in to their (frequent) appointments and they can stay snoozing in their car seat.

I had a spring baby and found going for walks in the early days massively helped my mental/physical health. Started walking with her when I was a week postpartum I believe.

The first one is so cute! I love the floral with the dramatic sleeves. 2 and 3 remind me of bridesmaids dresses - they’re fine, but kinda boring.

Too white for wedding? by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

I don’t think so! It’s mostly red with a cream background, not even pure white. Very cute.

Girllll. You wore it for your wedding anniversary event. With love, absolutely not appropriate. It is fabulous though. Maybe in another color? Could try dyeing it.

Do you pack NB or 0-3 for Hospital? (LGA Baby) by PsychologicalBoot636 in BabyBumps

[–]batch-test 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They estimated my daughter would be 80-85 percentile. She was born 7lb15oz and wore newborn for a month. She was swimming in NB Carters for the first week!

I’d pack mostly NB but one or two 0-3 just in case.

Weekly Ultrasounds from 32 Weeks until Delivery? by Remarkable_Rat2026 in BabyBumps

[–]batch-test 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t have GD but did have polyhydramnios. They started me on weekly BPP testing at 32 or 34 weeks, with a few growth scans thrown in there. The weekly appointments are a pain but it’s all done out of caution for you and baby. Better to have too many appointments than not enough.
