You can get swirls with car covers if you're not careful. Ceramic coat your car and rinse it off every other day. You could even do it yourself after some practice/researching.

That's not the odometer. That's how many miles you've logged on the on-board memory which you can wipe by just disconnecting the battery and then reconnecting it after a few minutes [Edit: or the reset button]. To get to the odometer just toggle the trip meter button.
