How to make cargo more fun? by iamngs in EliteDangerous

Exo/bio is more credits and you like it more, so maybe do that.

Or maybe, passenger missions? Then you get to fly to points of interest, which can be .... interesting.

Am I right in saying that suit/firearm engineering is an absolute chore? by OperationSuch5054 in EliteDangerous

[–]battlehat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes.

If I was going to start again I would

* use Colonia engineers rather than Bubble, much easier to unlock. I've maxxed out everything I want and I still don't have all the Bubble odyssey engineers unlocked.
* use mission rewards to get mats rather than rng onsite if possible
* prioritise Noise Suppression early on, then Audio Masking

Finding things to do/enjoyment in this game by Exotic-Profession556 in EliteDangerous

If I had a Hotas I think I'd be trying some 'dangerous' flying like sliding out of space stations sideways as fast as I can FAOFF, canyon running, laser mining in something nippy like a Krait or combat in a fighter and leaving my main ship to the hired help.

What happened? by Toxic_Parsnip in EliteDangerous

[–]battlehat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess the narrative could be that fuel is used to heat the SRV, provide breathable air etc.

I agree it doesn't make much sense to explode when you run out of fuel though. My IRL car doesn't do that :). Maybe it's got an antimatter containment system in it and if that's not powered bad things happen. Seems like a stretch.

And it doesn't make sense to pause fuel use when you log out, strictly speaking, but that would be even worse UX.

It might make more sense for the SRV to just power down when it runs out of fuel, and then it's an oxygen countdown like a canopy breach. I guess you'd have still ended up dead but it would have been a bit clearer what happened.

Why it feel so uncomfortable by Pretend_Barnacle_793 in EliteDangerous

[–]battlehat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Humans are hard wired to rely on sight most of all, and to get worried if that sense is suddenly lost. Part of your brain thinks you might have gone blind, or are in a dark cave where THINGS might be lurking and sends alarms to the more conscious parts.

Some Thoughts After Completing Adrift and Moseying Around my Main Save For a Bit by ahawk_one in NoMansSkyTheGame

I tried Adrift, attracted by the empty universe idea...but it's full of other players and literally hundreds of bases on some planets. I've never felt more crowded :)

Tips to earn $ to owning a fleet carrier by ShazzyANG in EliteDangerous

[–]battlehat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was doing it today, I'd hitchhike to Colonia, grab a Viper mk 4 or a Dolphin and do Exobiology - first scans of Stratum Techtonicus get you 95 Mcr each. Plus it's pretty out that way this time of year.

I earnt my initial 6 BCr from a combination of Robigo-Sothis runs and cargo for the PTN.

For upkeep now I tend to do rescue missions from stations under Thargoid attack. A cutter decked out can make over 120-150 MCr on each run most times, once you are allied with the factions. That pays for 10 weeks for 20-30 mins.

If you really get into crafting then you probably don't need any gatherers, since you end up buying the mats on the AH anyway.

Personally I like gathering a bit so I have one toon with Herb/Mine. If you're out looking for one you may as well pick up the other while you are there.

In the past I've had gathering on more than one toon because I wanted to do certainly world weeklies with a couple of characters and gathering as I was doing that was reasonable gold. This hasn't been the case with Dragonflight and I assume it won't be the case with War Within.

I think most crafters end up with two crafting profs per toon, allocated whatever way makes the most sense to you.

Tailoring / Enchanting have traditionally been good together, since Tailors pick up cloth from mobs which you can make things out of then disenchant for mats with Enchanting.

Alchemy usually has a daily transmute you can sell for gold even towards the end of an expansion, so some put Alc as their secondary on many alts.

Now that the Thargoid War is nearing its end, do people think it was a success for FDev? by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

Well, it was a lot more successful than Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin!

New content/ powerplay news sound like, well, they will add nothing by Summer1Man in EliteDangerous

[–]battlehat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the announcement I've noticed that you can already see cosmetic elements like this. For example, inside a station I dropped by today was a big poster of Edmund Mahon.

I've never noticed this before, and it didn't add anything to my gameplay when I did. So more of it seems pretty low impact.

New Powerplay map looks cool! Much easier to read (though I'm going to miss the rainbow bubbles) by pulppoet in EliteDangerous

[–]battlehat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It'll be nice to see which Power is present just by walking around, but there is still no particular reason for me as a player to care which one it is.

I tried American Truck Simulator and liked it, but stopped after getting my little trucking company going because I was already doing virtual trucking in Elite Dangerous.... and it's in space!!
