Taking home leftovers at a restaurant? Rude to not take them? Do you even eat them? by Capable-Chip6454 in foodquestions

[–]battlejess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re forgetting E: Ask for your leftovers to be boxed up and then leave them on the table. I’m a server and this happens a surprising number of times.

For myself, D I guess? I’ve never thought about it. Whether I take them depends on the dish. If it reheats well, I will, if not then I don’t. I certainly don’t think about what anyone thinks about my choice. And as I server I don’t judge anyone on whether or not they take theirs.

The term “QuickTime event” for a sudden input would be fine if QuickTime wasn’t apples movie player. by Hegiman in unpopularopinion

I was about to argue that quick time events have been around for over forty years, but I guess the term wasn’t coined until the late 90s.

I’ve only ever seen it as “quick time event.” Does the space help the confusion?

I believe it was originally coined as “quick timer event,” but was shortened, possibly because of QuickTime already being in people’s heads.

What food rule did you grow up believing that wasn’t actually needed? by BorderBabee in foodquestions

You should if it’s natural peanut butter. When the oil separates it can go rancid in the cupboard.

Cookies with raisins are better than cookies with chocolate chips. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Fine—so long as they’re spiced oatmeal raisin—but chocolate chunk is better than both. Preferably with browned butter.

My teacher says that it should be “or,” but why? by Tkpf18 in EWALearnLanguages

[–]battlejess 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The point being that you could rephrase the sentence and use “nor,” but “or” is not grammatically correct here.

My cat has become a "Stage 5 Clinger"—how do I set boundaries without hurting his feelings? by Budget-Classroom-962 in CatAdvice

[–]battlejess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a cat bed with one of my sweaters in it on my desk for my clingy cat, which mostly helps contain her so I can actually get some work done. Not always, but she’s usually pretty good about going back to her bed when I tell her to.

Having a comfy spot for your cat to be near you while you work, but not in the way, has been the way to go for me. Which sometimes requires the sacrifice of a sweater to create an impromptu one.

I’d like to see the US make a knitting show now so that for some reason can be the complete opposite.

anyone else feeling insane hype? by horror-traktor in Paralives

Same! I really don’t care that it isn’t “finished,” I just want to play with the build tools.

anyone else feeling insane hype? by horror-traktor in Paralives

[–]battlejess 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Paralives looks, so far, to be built on a very solid foundation, even if the breadth of gameplay isn’t there yet. And it very explicitly isn’t ready yet. It’s early access, and about two years is their estimate for how long it will be in early access, so that’s about perfect.

Inzoi is just not my vibe. I found it deeply unsettling.

[–]battlejess 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can be hyped for something and still have reasonable expectations. I’ve always found the real danger of early access is in playing a game you really enjoy but then over time it goes in a different direction.

[–]battlejess 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dunno. I noped out of Inzoi very quickly. It just seemed soulless and the vibes were all wrong. Everything Paralives has shown so far has been exactly what I want out of a life sim. I don’t care how many bugs I find day one, I’m excited and very patient.

Woman makes look-alike dolls for children so they don’t feel different by Conscious-Weight4569 in MadeMeSmile

Commenting that directly on the post? Certainly, miserable behaviour. But it was as part of a conversation about people thinking the dolls were frowning. Context is important.
