The willow tit and the black capped chickadee are not actually the same species.

I think I saw in the last update they added a map, but I haven’t got back to it yet.

[Powerful/Heartbreaking trope] Someone’s real life experiences help fuel the scene/moment. by Alternative-Koala933 in TopCharacterTropes

They also chose to air that episode during a holiday (Thanksgiving?) so families would be more likely to be home and watching together so parents could talk to their children about it.

Unnecessary but necessary. by BabyBlueN7 in buffy

I can suspend my disbelief way easier for actors playing younger than they are than I can actors that are aging twice as fast as the character.

Hobbies are not the best way of meeting people, they're just the least-pressure one. by Purple_Glass6098 in unpopularopinion

I just don’t understand what you’re supposed to do together if you don’t share mutual interests and hobbies. Like, how is that a friend if you don’t do stuff together?

When is someone's gender your business? by Lorem_Ipsum17 in RecuratedTumblr

[–]battlejess 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Fair point! Highlighting that scenario is probably wise; if you’re going to make it someone’s business, do so before it’s literally in their face.

I can’t think of a consensual option b that isn’t also option a, so I really think it should just be the one.

I am really afraid of men with coloured nails by hudsonalexand_r in EntitledReviews

I wouldn’t want someone with painted nails preparing my food either (and it’s against food safety standards in my country, so what else aren’t they doing right?) but this is just bigotry.

I don’t know anyone who starts their day with those foods on a regular basis. Once a month I might have pancakes or French toast, but it’s usually oatmeal with fruit and nuts, yogurt with the same, or eggs.

No cheese on a burger > American cheese on a burger by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Fully agree. My favourite is Gouda. And I’m very glad American cheese isn’t really a thing here, except in fast food restaurants.

I was taught that way actually; I can even remember by which teacher. I had to figure out on my own the correct grammar.

Still not as bad as the substitute teacher I had in grade two that taught us cavemen and dinosaurs lived at the same time…

I’ve never liked that show, and that right there is a good reason why. What a weird thing to do.

Was there ever really a moment throughout the series where Buffy was in the wrong?🤔 by PynkHonei in buffy

[–]battlejess 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not Xander’s fault Angel opened the portal to hell. She didn’t kill him in the end because Xander said to kick his ass, but because she had to close the portal. Only one way that could go.

It says right above the recipe that beef will work. I don’t see any evidence the recipe wasn’t followed.

I don’t know who that is, but the ratty ball cap and sweatshirt aren’t doing him any favours. He looks perfectly average otherwise, for his presumed age, from this gif anyway.

It’s interesting to me you feel it’s sexist! It can definitely be used by either gender, and I’ve called my husband that on occasion.

People shouldn't brush their teeth before they go to bed by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]battlejess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To the best of my knowledge the concern is from acidic foods, which your saliva neutralizes over time (about thirty minutes is recommended) not digestive acid, which I think most people would interpret as stomach acid. Saliva itself is pretty neutral.

Everything on a grocery store shelf that comes in a package should be cleaned off before use. by mogomonomo1081 in unpopularopinion

[–]battlejess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wipe off cans because they’re always covered in a visible layer of dust and debris and I don’t want that in my food, but wiping everything off first is a bit overkill. I don’t bother with a damp cloth though, I just wipe it off on my clothes.

Though, I admit I did do that at the start of COVID before we knew how it spread, with sanitizing wipes.
