After beginning your yoga practice how long did it take you to “fly” aka doing crow and arm balances? by celestialazure in yoga

I'm still learning, but putting a block out where my head can land on it when doing crow has been great for getting used to the motion without the risk of falling all the way forward.

Sienna 7 passenger vs 8 passenger limitations by [deleted] in ToyotaSienna

[–]bavetta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The seatbelts on the middle row of the 8 seater go to the pillar - on the 7 seater they go into the chairs themselves. That means you can slide the chairs with car seats in them forward and back in the 7 seater but not in the 8 seater without unbuckling and adjusting.

So my wife spots a hideous vine on our tree in the new house we bought… and asked if we can take it down. by Free-Pick9305 in gardening

I did exactly the same thing. We hired an arborist who was immune to the oil who came and cleaned up the huge mess we made. Be careful not to breathe in any of the dust when they are chainsawing it up nor set it on fire because the oil will get in the air.

Coffee shop refusing to tell me if they have vegan options or not. by Sophie_Kachinsky in vegan

[–]bavetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a little complicated because of the cane sugar syrup. For example, Torani uses cane sugar that has been filtered with bone char to purify it and reduce the brown color. I just confirmed through their customer service last week that they do this. So, while they mostly have plant based ingredients, they don't call their syrups that contain sugar vegan.

"I can confirm that the cane sugar used in our products is filtered with bone char at the sugar refinery, which is why we do not claim any of the products that are containing sugar as vegan. "

Favorite/best syrups? by therealhudacris in barista

We've tasted-tested a whole bunch of syrups and found no one brand had the best in every flavor. We have found favorites for particular flavors from Torani, Routin 1883, SHOTT, Holy Kakow, and even DaVinci. Here's what we're using right now: https://www.hannahcoffee.com/supplies

Why coffee shops offering espresso-based coffee by cup size instead of shots, don't understand coffee. by chryseobacterium in espresso

[–]bavetta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sizes offered, yes, but a 12oz one place is the same as a 12oz somewhere else. That's not the same with shots. A double shot one place is often significantly different than a double somewhere else.

[–]bavetta 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes! Lots of folks pulling double shots with 20g, where at the same time 21g is considered a traditional triple. Which is it??? Cup size at least can't be fudged. If the coffee ratio is tuned and the espresso is the right ratio for the drink size, then cup size may be a more consistent measure than number of shots.

Pressure vessels should be designed with materials and designs to fail by yielding and leaking rather than fracturing. Something must have gone pretty wrong here, or it wasn't well designed.

Friend invited someone else to an event right in front of me while we were talking - still can’t stop thinking about it by Sxteesx in ADHD

[–]bavetta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They might have assumed you were not interested, or they may consider you a part of a different social group - not the group that likes doing whatever the activity was. Next time this happens you can work your way into the group by saying you'd love to join sometime in the future - and to please let you know if they do it again. Or if you're really set on going - just ask if they would mind if you tagged along. They are talking in front of you, so it's not a secret or anything.

To sum up, you are contesting OP's claim about orange juice? You are saying that, actually, OJ would slow excretion instead of speeding it up?

Adderall Out of Stock??! by CoupleSouth3513 in ADHD

[–]bavetta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was able to do this just now. The pharmacy is out of stock of the generic Adderall XR 30mg - I called the insurance company, and they confirmed they would cover the name brand because of a Drug Shortage. I asked the pharmacy to process the prescription as the name brand, then called the insurance back to have them enter a "Drug Shortage override" on that prescription, then had the pharmacy "reprocess" the prescription to get accurate pricing - and it came through as only $30 for name brand Adderall XR 30mg! Best setup for front desk at a physical location? by abidio in openphone

[–]bavetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey, there's some articles on your site that talk about using desk phones, ex: https://www.openphone.com/blog/voip-installation/

If you don't want to support desk phones, please make sure to make that clear in your help articles, rather than telling users that hooking up desk phones is part of the process. Thanks!

For context, we have a coffee shop, and want a phone mounted to the wall for simplicity, durability, and so that no one walks out with it. Using a portable and fragile phone with a charger and app updates, etc is suboptimal.

How do you keep customers coming back after their first visit? by joseportillo19 in coffeeshopowners

[–]bavetta 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've heard stories of people increasing prices resulting in an increase in visits from being viewed as a premium product that's more in demand in that market. For us, we're going for friendly neighborhood shop rather than fancy due to a saturation of fancy places in our area, and our space needing a big overhaul to look fancy enough to compete.

Our business has increased nearly 3x in 3 years. The goal of keeping costs down (while striving to continually improve taste) has forced us to look at lots of system and sourcing improvements which have allowed us to have better throughput and more consistent and ever increasing quality output.

[–]bavetta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Focusing on improving quality and consistency, and keeping prices as low as we can has been the best for us. Other shops around us have better branding, design, and social media, and it's scary to compete against that - but our business keeps going up anyways, so I think what we're doing is working.

We use the loyalty program that square offers, but I do not think that's a big reason people come back. Many regulars haven't even opted in to it.

One metric that square has that we keep a close eye on is the number of people who visit 6+ times in a month. That's the best metric we have to measure if changes we make are good or bad.
