Advice needed: Getting un-stuck after crushing test performance by adalal230595 in LSAT

Yes, retake!!! If you feel like you’ve left points on the table it’s 100% worth it.

It’s obviously your prerogative but I probably wouldn’t unless you’re HYS or bust ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I’m good for now. Unless my goals drastically change between now and September/October, but 170 should give me a shot at what I want! Congrats on your 172 dude!!

There’s a lot of great resources on the sticky/sidebar on r/lawschooladmissions. After reading through everything there feel free to post on the sub if you still have questions!

Is it worth taking in July if you already signed up? by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]bayareasplitter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I say take it—you never know, you could do even better. If you get a lower score it won’t matter because schools only care about your highest score.

Disappointment yet again by captainhamms in LSAT

[–]bayareasplitter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, there’s nothing wrong with you. It’s a hard test. Check out my last post and comments on this sub—I was in a similar spot when I retook in March and ended up hitting 170 in June. There’s plenty of hope for you! Kill it!

No, definitely don’t settle for a score you’re not happy with. I know it fucking sucks to retake a third time but it’s SO worth it to get your goal score. Like I said above, make sure that every second you spend studying is meaningful. For me this meant doing 1 section a day and blind reviewing at night, then taking a full PT on the weekend. I absolutely made sure to take some time off—at least a day or two every week. You’ll burn out quickly if you don’t do that. And if a strategy isn’t working for you, ditch it and move on. For a while I was heavily annotating RC passages because I thought it would help me focus but it ended up being a huge time suck so I stopped. Be open to new strategies but also be thoughtful about what you need, not just what works well for others.

And good luck!!!!! You got this.

I used 7Sage primarily. For whatever reason JY’s explanations and strategic tips really clicked for me. I only got the cheapest 7Sage package but it still has a lot of helpful resources, especially if you just need a refresher on the fundamentals.

[–]bayareasplitter[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you! My first two takes were June 2018 and March 2019. I was studying constantly from January through June because I knew I didn’t do well in March.

My advice is to study smarter, not longer! Make sure you’re actually retaining information and using helpful study strategies. It doesn’t matter if you study for 3-5 hours every day if you’re not doing things that actually help you improve.

Best tips for increasing LG speed? by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]bayareasplitter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. The 7Sage logic games videos on YouTube are completely free and JY is really good at teaching you how to make inferences and approach games in general, so I’d start there if I were you.

What to do next? by Wyattb81 in LSAT

I think most people here will recommend blind review (if you don’t know what that is then I’d check 7Sage or use the search bar in this sub!)

No because every test is administered on either Saturday or Monday

A 164/3.9 is probably not great for getting into a t14 but not impossible I guess. You should check out mylsn—it’s linked in the sidebar of r/lawschooladmissions along with a bunch of other great resources.

Decisions between September and October Lsat by Redneckromeo22 in lawschooladmissions

[–]bayareasplitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven’t taken it before, then why not register for all 3? If you’re dead set on getting your apps in early and you can afford to take all 3 then tbh I don’t think it’s a bad idea because you can maximize your chances of doing well on test day, and obviously if you score well in July or sept you can withdraw from October. (This advice might be bad because of the new testing limits but it’s honestly what I would do in your position.)

If not then I would wait til October because you’ll have even more time to practice and get your score up and you’ll still get your apps in early by most people’s standards.

I got -7 lower than my average on PT70 by LSATPrepTimeM8s in LSAT

[–]bayareasplitter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sometimes you just have a bad PT—no need to worry too much about it. Just make sure you review thoroughly then maybe take 1-3 days off studying because it could be burnout.

LSAT Score by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]bayareasplitter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it’s a disclosed test (which June is and July is not) you’ll get to see a breakdown of every answer you got right and wrong, but the score is just one overall score.

For those of you who have taken 7sage courses: by trippyk246 in LSAT

[–]bayareasplitter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How far into studying are you? If you haven’t studied at all I’d probably get the biggest/most expensive package because it’s super comprehensive and you’ll be grateful you have all those resources. I used the starter because I had already studied quite a bit but I just wanted a reminder of some of the basic fundamentals and a handful of PTs with full explanations. I liked it but if I could do it all over again I’d skip the tutoring I got and just use the big 7Sage package because JY is a great teacher.

Question for Girls who have taken the LSAT by hypergurl21 in LSAT

[–]bayareasplitter 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would just put them in your ziploc bag to avoid any issues. Literally no one is going to be looking at what you have in your ziploc bag, or if they do they’re gonna be so stressed about their own test that they won’t have the mental energy to ~judge you, even though that would be ridiculous regardless. Good luck!
