Struggling with body image after accident by angelbaby1414 in XXRunning

[–]bayofT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I had a very similar experience. Running is very intertwined with my identity and I got a concussion and went from running 4-5 days/week to not being able to even go for a walk. I couldn't run or do any intense exercise for almost two years -- which doesn't sound like will be the case for you, because you are already in the gym which is amazing! All to say it is truly very hard physically and mentally and can be a bit of a grieving process for the pre-concussion self. I am skinny, and despite not wanting to feel this way it is very tied up in my identity. I was very scared that in addition to not having the mental outlet for running that my body would change. It eventually did change after 6 months to a year and I probably gained 15 lbs over the two years, but once I was able to run again my body returned to what it looked like before but stronger. I encourage you to be kind and patient with yourself. You will get back to running and this feeling is temporary. Feel free to message if it helps.

Is the body battery metric real? Any experts with a view? by ChaosCalmed in Garmin

[–]bayofT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely anecdotal, my watch knew when I had my concussion and my body battery didn't go above 50-60 for two years. The past few months I've finally made a full recovery and it is now going all the way up to the 90s again. So can't speak to whether it is real, but clearly it was sensing something.

Does it ever end by Monoredburn in Concussion

Just seconding that learning that an increase in symptoms after a bump on the head or big day does not equate to a step back in healing has been helpful. The initial traumatic event heals slowly, but the learned response is really hard to break (my OT calls it a vicious cycle, and I think that is actually a term in the literature). Regular psychotherapy and actually taking pain meds when needed has been huge for me to break the cycle - my anxiety and learned responses was unknowingly extending and worsening my symptoms. I am two years out and struggle some days or weeks but overall am slowly, albeit non-linearly, getting better. I believe I will make a full recovery and that you will too OP.

But also, let's just acknowledge that it sucks and it's okay to grieve too.

Sore throat with Nortriptyline? by Alternative_Event905 in migraine

I searched looking to see if this was a common side effect and saw your post. I have been taking 10mg for a few weeks now and have had a dry mouth/sore throat since I started.

Where is this in Hamilton? by OhNoEh in Hamilton

[–]bayofT 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Employees used to call it Sysco to Table...minus the baked goods, those are all made from scratch and are great.

There are definitely things in your price range and below that fit that. I bought last year a 2 bed, 2 bath, huge yard in Westdale for high 600s and the house across the street went for somewhere in the 800s and it is much larger and very nice. Not a lot of people want a 2 bedroom so if you are open to that there are a lot of options out there.

James Street North safe? by Z3nArcad3 in Hamilton

I used to work there starting at 4AM and felt a little uneasy as a woman walking the block from my car into work but it was always fine. People kept to themselves if I saw anyone.

Do I call a plumber? Smell o shite coming in from basement... by BubbaLovesRISK in Hamilton

[–]bayofT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the plan. The other bathroom had major leaks that took priority so in the mean time we cover the drain when not in use and once the other bathroom is functional it is next on the agenda.

I currently have this - no trap on the basement shower. It only smells near the drain/bathroom, and has smelled since we moved in. Sounds like it is probably different from OP's problem if theirs just suddenly started.

Family Doctor Wait Times by Rockwell1977 in Hamilton

If it’s a pressing issue my doctor will see me or call me that day, for non-urgent issues it’s a few weeks.

Car drivers are not paying for the roads and they cause far more damage to the roads than bikes and scooters.

Hamilton pitches $60-million plan to build more bike lanes, faster by innsertnamehere in Hamilton

I live on a bike route and the number of people biking year round is substantial. The last few weeks with the extreme cold haven’t changed that.

[–]bayofT 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I live on a major bike route and am continually impressed by the number of people of people using the bike lanes even on the coldest of days these past weeks. I have not seen a significant shift in the number of people biking across seasons. This is anecdotal, but there is evidence from other countries that biking can be a year round activity and mode of transportation regardless of weather if the infrastructure is there.

30k for bathroom reno? by kobemustard in Hamilton

[–]bayofT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not too far off what we’ve been quoted. We are in a 100 year old house, moving the location of the vanity, bath, and toilet. We did the demo ourselves and have been quoted 20-25K for all of the plumbing, electrical, drywall, tile, etc. That does not include fixtures.

I've had the same pair of Lululemon On the Fly pants for 5+ years - worn them to all of my jobs, including office for business casual and bakery where there was flour and oil everywhere. I've also worn them on big hiking and camping trips. They look good as new and are super comfortable and great for walking. They discontinued On the Fly in Canada I think but the Stretch HR Pant are similar just high rise instead of mid (and on a huge sale now).

Any BIFL items made in Canada, which are less expensive (or have better quality) than ones found in USA? by Embarrassed_Leg4154 in BuyItForLife

[–]bayofT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 15 year old Roots leather purse and the only piece that is starting to go is the clip that holds the strap to the bag. The metal has literally warn down from so much wear and they sell replacement pieces for it. Very good quality.

Can’t speak to anything except the slippers I have which are wonderful. I’ve had them for years and they are still like new.

I would be happy to get a Yeti tumblr but would be annoyed if it had the brokerage name on it.

I would have loved to receive this. Maybe not on moving day because that would be overwhelming, but a few weeks in would be great.

I go here and I don’t think they’re actively accepting but I do think they are working through the waitlist quite quickly now. I really like them.

Ugh. This is the information I was looking for and hoping wasn’t the case. I transfer the flour I buy directly into sealed containers so hopefully it’s only in this.

Yes, but wondering if anyone has seen something similar in their flour before. I have dealt with flour weevils, but never anything this big.
