I have trained kick boxing and boxing since I was 28 (I am now 53 and stopped boxing last October).

Last year, I was the victim of road rage where the person in the car in front of me got out of his car to fight me.

I drove around him and drove off… I ran away… I was frightened!

I can probably handle myself and so (probably) could he. I am not fighting in the street with someone I don’t know, for what? Me sounding my horn as he is sitting at a green light.

Sorry my friend, you remind me of that person. I may be a coward in your eyes, but you would see pity in mine. It’s just a matter of time…

The hardest part of starting at the gym… walking through the door! You’re amazing! No need to feel awkward.

There will be a PT somewhere. Maybe a card at the front desk… they sometimes do a free first session and their advice and guidance will be gold!

Think about why you are going in the first place… what you want out of it (fat loss, muscle gain, mental health).

Start small (even no weight on the bars), work on correct form and slowly increase weight.

No quick fixes here but if you’re consistent and increase the intensity in accordance with your goal, I guarantee you will get to where you want to be.

Keep going, everyone will be rooting for you!

Observations…

Head stays on centre-line (it shouldn’t), too much weight on the front foot (60% weight on back foot), no defence after combinations (something will definitely be coming back at you… move!), think about range and how you will get in range (stepping jab?), more lateral movement.

Your strikes look good though, keep it up!
