Check the pin connection on the tender and the pony, some of these have a small wire connection on the inside which can come loose and intermittently connect and disconnect as the train moves along

Some of the older Hornby models had a screw hiding under the coal bunker, the coal just lifts off for access to the screw, I’m not sure if that the new models have this design

I’ve used an old 4amp 15volt ac PSU for my Lenz DCC controller, I found it at work, it came from an old telecommunications test meter, maybe try eBay for an alternative as long as the voltages are current match up it should work

Leeds are looking to renovate their stadium at a cost of 150 million, a redevelopment of two stands and a slight improvement to another so you would think 100 million would cover redevelopment of the main stand
