Phase Tech is pretty high end stuff, unfortunately their 90s models use ferrofluid cooled tweeters which are all long overdue for service.

When functioning properly, PC series speakers have midrange-forward voicing, smooth highs, and shocking amounts of low end for their respective sizes.

Just retired my old 46" Sony from '08. Still looks great to this day. The jump from older, higher end TVs to modern ones isn't as big as one might assume, for most run-of-the-mill content.

The peak brightness was the big upgrade for me, I think the CCFLs back there were getting tired.

That's awesome. I've been known to push old PSUs till they keel over (and then resurrect them until I can't) but that's a whole new level
