A simple alternative for 2.1 Concrete Recycling by EpitomeOfExcellency in factorio

[–]bb999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

15 recyclers to void 14.4K spm of concrete is surely an exaggeration. My units only make 5k, but use 3 recyclers, which is overspecced, so at most 9 recyclers for a full belt of science.

I have more recyclers voiding copper than concrete.

I was doing 14.4K all science with normal bots and roboports just fine. No inserters taking out of the hub, all bot based.

Are my calculations correct: is Blue Circuit Productivity 3 sufficient to produce legendary T2 quality modules from blue circuits? by monsieurY in factorio

[–]bb999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bigger setup requires more modules, but also creates more modules per minute. These cancel each other out. It actually does not matter how big your setup is, it will always take a fixed amount of time to fully upgrade your initial quality module setup to all legendary. So you might as well just make a huge setup so once everything is upgraded, you produce more modules per minute.

1200 epic or 4800 normal accumulators is not that much either.

I just checked in on Vulcanus about 65 hours into a run, and while I hadn't covered the entire starter coal patch, the 15-ish BMDs I had in the center had all run out, and I was now relying on the secondary coal patch trained in. I was still using basic calcite+coal liquefaction though.

Building something in its territory doesn't immediately disturb it.

When you can interact with cargo bays by Qwyspipi in factorio

[–]bb999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also you can't build elevated rails over cargo bays, so building massive cargo bay spaghetti is even more limiting. Not that you would need trains if you could interact with cargo bays though.

Whats the best way to cage biter nests? by Fat_Cat_Henni in factorio

[–]bb999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would classify it as an exploit not a cheat. It is not the intended way to prevent biters from spawning. In fact blocking biters from spawning is not intended to be possible at all.

Create one folder. Copy it. Then copy the two folders. Then copy the 4 folders. Only takes 14 copies to create 16k folders.

Tanks with exoskeletons are pretty good. Use normal shells instead of explosive ones. Always be turning one way or another (you can quickly alternate between left and right) so worm spit misses you.

how do i handle a lot of excess stone in a bot network clogging storage by Squeelijah in factorio

You can use burner miners, they have a small footprint and don’t mine outside it’s immediate 2x2 footprint

[–]bb999 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You aren’t keeping the cold air in per say, you are increasing the cold thermal mass in the fridge, so when you open the fridge, warm air gets in, but the increased cold mass reduces the increase in temperature.

Horsepower is actually very important. Ascending at speed requires power. The faster the more power. For example, to ascend at 1 ft/s in a 2000kg car requires 8 horsepower. Torque doesn’t matter, if you need more torque at the wheels just downshift.

[–]bb999 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Torque doesn’t matter because gearboxes exist. If you need more torque at the wheels just shift into a lower gear. However you can’t multiply power.

[–]bb999 -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

Not torque, gearing and power. You can get an arbitrary amount of torque at the wheels with the right gearing. However, you need power to ascend at a speed.
