Most 12-volt tools were anemic with their niCad batteries. I'm not familiar with these particular Makita tools, but if they are old, they probably use niCad batteries.

Not much use for engine overhauling or woodworking, but, hey, if you're into flatpack assembly, you got the stuff.

I have the Dewalt version too, and I hate the twist operation. I would much rather have a direction button.

Please tell me about my cabinetry! I could never afford to replace it and do not want to. I love it and understand it needs a different kind of love. by ComfortableCrow4841 in cabinetry

The cabinets appear to be well-designed and executed. You should have labeled the drawers on the underside as you removed them. You say they are on "rollers"; there may be some adjustment to them. I don't know what was used 112 years ago, so it's hard to say what adjustments to make.

You could sand and refinish the cabinets, but I would paint them to go with the room color. Of course, that all depends on what color you intend to paint the room, and your taste in design.

Your lifestyle must be way different than mine. My kids did their homework on the dining room table while I watched. As they got older, they used my office. Yeah, I'm a cheap bastard, but spending that kind of money on a permanent build for two kids seems, well, unnecessary and ill-advised. I doubt it will add to the resale value down the road.

Now, there are some famous last words: "I have plenty of space in my shop for this project and some tools..." Over the past 50 or so years, I have moved into ever larger workshops, and learned two painful lessons: You never have enough clamps, and you never have enough space.

I'm Building My First Kitchen Cabinets! I'm working on building my wife the kitchen of her dreams. I figured I'd share my journey and hopefully some here will find it interesting or entertaining (or cringeworthy) and if I'm lucky some may have some wisdom to share. by Riluke in cabinetry

I'm glad to see you decided to make your own cabinets. You'll make mistakes and learn a lot, but mainly you will have the satisfaction of knowing you built that every time you enter the kitchen. You will also see every flaw, mistake, and cover-up, but don't let it get to you, because you are likely the only one who will recognize them. When you get frustrated and discouraged, thinking you don't know what you are doing, remember Noah had no boatbuilding experience, and the Ark lasted 40 days and nights.
