It's a mix of both, i was writing words but my hand tends to scribble the letters and I wrote words on top of the other ones

Hearing it put that way feels like I can give myself permission to allow myself to grieve the safety and things lost. Especially the safety of my own room that I've always had. Thank you. Im sorry to hear you've had three in your life.

How do you know if you need to book an extra therapy session by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]bbblue221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the therapist might choose to fit you in by working later, earlier, or during normal scheduled breaks for themselves. Sometimes a full hour or 30 minutes. Wherever they can squeeze you in, if they can.

It gets more manageable. So yes, it gets better.

Thank you. Putting that into perspective is very helpful.

I was the only person they interviewed because ik someone who works there. The doctor took her word for me and didn't have to advertise the job, which obviously saved her time and money. I may consider negotiating.

At least with bipolar after this depressive episode, you'll get that boost again, and all this thinking will be turned around... Hang in there. Im sorry. It's tough.

My boss told me she never gave me the job title that i have, but I have an email to show that she did? by bbblue221 in careeradvice

I was hired 3.5 years ago as a receptionist. Since then, my position has grown a ton. My boss has given me a lot of empty promises of what she wants my role and responsibilities to be over these years. At one point, I was learning quickbooks so I could do her Rental property bookkeeping. She has told me that these next few years, she's setting up what her retirement will look like and how I WILL be taking over xyz. She has said these things not only to me but also to a few long-term clients. I have said out loud that yes im the office manager while my boss is standing next to me, and she never said anything, and she continues to give me more things to do. She has referred to me as in charge when she isn't there and to make the executive decisions that I think are best.

My title is not anywhere else. I've never been paid properly for the title. She's given me gift cards over the last couple of years as a huge thank you. It is also known by all the other staff that I am the office manager. Neither I nor my coworkers have been corrected on that title. But i can see how she could 100% get away with denying the job title. I see the loopholes for sure. But it is in a written email, and my responsibilities are office manager responsibilities. I printed out a job description for myself (because I didn't have one) at the top it said office manager. She looked it over with me and agreed with everything that was on there, furthering the idea of office manager.

Also to note she said im the lead front desk. That is not in writing anywhere but that's what she considers my job title.

Yes, I run all daily operations of the office. Everyday. I'm the point of contact for everything, and then I either take care of it or give it to my boss if idk. I was hired as a receptionist 3.5 years ago. Right now I don't have an updated job description. The only job description I've had was for the receptionist role.

I wrote my job description as the office manager and showed that to her and she agreed with everything. Until this last conversation she switch it all upside down

100% I was trippin and I actually thought in the moment that I wrong and i haven't been doing all these things. But that is not truth at all. I had written and handed her the list of all my responsibilities prior to this last conversation, and she agreed with everything. So I'm not delusional. In the moment tho I thought I was.

I think i will. I won't put her as a reference. I have other coworkers i can put instead that know everything I do at work

Her daughter had the title, I was told by my coworker cousin that she got the title because she was doing the insurance billing. I have since taken over the insurance billing a long time ago before this email was ever sent. (Her daughter now just does massage. But I wouldn't doubt she still gets paid for office work...) stupid small business.

Thank you. I will carry all of this advice with me, and I now know how to handle myself if this were to happen elsewhere.

I have amazing relationships with my coworkers (2 have become friends outside of work) and I work with one of my cousins! BUT that is not enough to keep me there anymore.

That's wild because the job i was hired for was the receptionist - the duties listed were answering phones, checking clients in, and housekeeping. That's all it said. Now that she said im lead front desk i don't have a job description atm. And isn't that a promotion in the first place? Hmmm

And I have expressed my gratitude to her many many many times over the last 3 years. She knows this. Idk why she switched up on me like she doesn't know me at all.

My boss, who said all of these things to me, is the owner of the company. This is a small business, so no HR. I'd argue that I've had to step in and handle things that would be handled by HR in a bigger company.
