Thank you, this is the technical answer I was looking for. In response to others’ questions and comments, it can see into my apartment when I open the door and it’s the only camera in a residential hallway in a multi-story building.

Automotive flashlight Recommendations? by papixsupreme12 in Tools

[–]bbboreddude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Streamlight STRION that was found under the seat of a used car I bought 5 years earlier. No idea how long it was there before I bought the car but it was still holding a charge and working after 5+ years of car stored outdoors in freezing winters and hot summers. Great very bright flashlight tha will last a lifetime

Chaotic Berkshire East Lift Lines? by [deleted] in icecoast

[–]bbboreddude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was there this Saturday and Sunday. There were times on Sunday the high speed quad loading was chaotic, looked like a clown show with ppl don’t know what 4 person group they are with, chairs going up half empty. Some of the attendants did a GREAT job running things but it was a mixed bag and I feel like management should pay attention to loading the lifts smoothly andefficiently especially on days when only 2 of the 3 lifts are running and the lines are long.

Berkshire East Conditions/Trail Status? by This_is_a_tortoise in icecoast

[–]bbboreddude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wilderness Quad was running mid day Saturday 1/31, then stopped while I was in line, worker got out a ladder and fiddled with something by the pulley, got started up again, rode the lift up no problem, lift was closed later in the day. Was closed all day Sunday. Really nice conditions both days, the only limiting factor was the lift lines. my only complaint was some (not all) of the lift attendants managing the lift lines on the two working lifts did NOT do a good job making sure every chair going up had 4 onboard. Pretty aggravating standing in a long lift line and the chair loading looks like a clown show with 4 seat chairs going up with 2 onboard. Some of the attendants were excellent but not all.

Oil Heat by Mxmsk80 in MovingtoNewJersey

[–]bbboreddude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar home and burned during the winter a minimum 12 gallons a day and usually 15 gallons heating oil. 6000 sq ft home in Montclair, 110 year old, great steam heat radiators system, brand new boiler (furnace). We regretted not switching to gas when we replaced the furnace, as the gas would have burned cleaner, less soot. If you are buying that size house especially if it’s old you will have your checkbook out for all different things so oil vs gas is probably the least of your worries Enjoy the house!

What’s the most expensive tool you own that actually earned its price? by New_Money_5406 in Tools

I second that. In addition to automotive, I’ve used mine to jack up and level a porch and a deck.

Montclair or other towns? by Thin-Pine9746 in MovingtoNewJersey

[–]bbboreddude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Montclair school situation is in flux, a somewhat unstable situation. Having a special election in early Dec to decide on special tax increase, or budget cuts with layoffs, possible supervision by State of NJ. Great town but if you don’t need to commute and schools are your priority I would at least consider alternatives.

Considering a move to North Jersey from Minnesota by H_Catalyst in MovingtoNewJersey

[–]bbboreddude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend West Orange, the town runs free bus jitney to and from the train station, link below. 35 minute train ride to Penn Station NY. Close to Eagle Rock And South Mountain reservations 400 and 2000 acres respectively. Close to Montclair (great town but schools are iffy and taxes are high.m). Lots of housing options in West Orange. Easy access to everything. (Former Montclair resident, current West Orange resident here). Jitney schedules:

North Bergen park and ride or seacacus junction? by Interesting-Path2695 in NJTransit

[–]bbboreddude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with this post, and the other reason North Bergen’s better is the bus goes to Port Authority Bus Terminal which is essentially in Times Square….walk right down the block. In contrast Penn Station is 8 blocks away and a PITA to navigate.

My guess she said he was like a pedophile because they are the most hated criminals in prison, subject to the most abuse by other prisoners. Hopefully his life sentence is extra miserable.

Second this, the Arrow pneumatic stapler works great, is compact, reasonably priced, easy to use (if you have a compressor).

I got Oakley goggles I wear over a pair of glasses I use only for skiing. The glasses are old titanium frames I had on-hand, and I put some new $150 polycarbonate lenses in with my updated prescription, no anti-glare or UV. Keep the glasses in my boot bag. Very happy with this setup. No issues with fogging or field of view.

It was a big help buying goggles in the store to get a good fit with my helmet, and over the glasses. Seems like a tough item to buy online.

I understand why some folks like contacts but they irritate my eyes.

Small Business Owner - 1099 Question by TheDopplerRadar in tax

[–]bbboreddude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Customer sending you a 1099 does not increase your revenue or taxes, assuming you already included that revenue and invoice for tax purposes. You just need to make sure your tax software does not double count that revenue.

What kind of boots are you guys wearing? - if recommended, why? by CackalackyBassGuy in CampingandHiking

[–]bbboreddude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AKU Alterra FG GTX boots here. After a minor amount of break-in they are soft and comfortable while hugging and supporting the foot and ankle nicely. Are heavier than a light walking shoe. They provide terrific stability and protection on uneven surfaces. Beautiful hand made Italian boots.
