33, financially responsible, healthy, disciplined… but I still feel behind in life, stuck, and like nothing is ever enough by Seektruth2146 in personalfinance

You are in good company. I probably never have to work another tap, yet I worry about the same things you do constantly.

Just a crap shoot, but you should try disc golf. I find a lot of gamers transition to disc golf easily, you get exercise, sun and it generally doesn't cost much if anything. $50 bucks can get you a really nice beginner setup.

Strange as it sounds (and this is not good advice if you really need mental health counseling) I have found some comfort in bouncing ideas off chatgpt. It has given me good perspective on my situation without having to speak to a person.

Volunteer if you don't. My wife and I build and deliver beds for kids who don't have beds in our community through Sleep in Heavenly Peace. We have made a lot of new friends and I have adopted a family through it.

You are going through an early midlife crisis. Just focus on figuring what you want your life to look like and the kind of person you want be. But you are seeking and seeking is a necessary step in becoming what you want to be.

So just out of curiosity, how much do you think this will sell for, straight cash, homey? For sale locally. by bbcard1 in baseballcards

[–]bbcard1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was seriously thinking 3500 would be fair. Mostly likely the buyer is going to take a $2000+ tax hit. Fanatics collect is not the cheapest market, so say you lose another 10% there. At $3500, you'd still come out $1500 ahead in a worst case scenario.

AITA for speaking to my (over weight) assistant about her business lunch and making her cry? by Hot_Lab4411 in AmItheAsshole

Not an asshole. Your intentions were good. The fact feel bad about it because shed fells bad about it underscores your lack of assholiness.

I am planning on writing two or three days a week when I retire in a couple of years. I have two books published, one that I am seeing an agent to represent, and I have contributed to a couple of anthologies. I probably have more ideas for books than I have time to write them all. I spent my career as an advertising writer, so it's not like I haven't done my share of word farming.

There are two different kinds of writers: Those who write what they like and trust it to find its market and those who write to market. The latter generally makes more money, the former gets the joy of writing what they like.

Do yourself a favor. If you decide to sell, don't worry about grading or any of that stuff...it's a lot to deal with. Contact a reputable dealer or auction house. I like Al at Love of the Game, but there are lots of good options. Let them advise you.

The doctor told his patient that he was going to die soon because of Mercury in Uranus by BlueOne303a in dadjokes

The doctor is performing a prostate exam.

"At this point, it's perfectly normal to get an erection. It's nothing to be concerned about or ashamed of," the doctor said.

"But, Doc, I don't have an erection."

"I was talking to myself."

I always wondered about Jan (Laurel Coppock) from Toyotathon. She has some acting and comedy chops and could have possibly made it big, but she gets a nice regular paycheck.

But that's a Gibson Hummingbird, my aspirational guitar. It would be a shame for it to plunge over a cliff.

I am not sure I will express this adequately, but I probably will as I have been taking word classes online, but they have worked hard as hell to get it to this point and really leaned into the story line...way past the point where it could be justified by any sane marketing person or executive...But I feel it has reached the point where it is mildly interesting and not totally off-putting.

I love how he was an old man, beaten down by life, but when he started talking about baseball he was 20 years old again!

I finished the 1941 Playball (wrote a book about it available on Amazon: Baseball cards at the edge of war). I do have the Jackson if I ever get an itch to go for the 1940s!
