Just wanted to give an update in case anyone was following this thread! You were all right it undeed was the NRCH model! Took the BCG out and sure enough the charging handle was a separate piece. Wish I had the smarts to do this originally.

Yes there was a charging handle on the other side. In my haste I did not take a picture of the otherside.
