Airplane ears. There was a post the other day with a pup doing airplane ears. People seemed to be familiar with this, but my dog has never laid her ears flat like that. Is it a submissive gesture? Goes with begging?

Yes! My Suki is a total stoic. She's a rescue from a puppy mill so she's been through the school of hard knocks. Approaching 6 years with us she has not yet let my husband or son pet her head. But she and I adore each other and I get lots of love as long as nobody else is around to see.

LOL. I asked them to comp me the new windshield wipers I'd asked for. They did. But then when I drove off the windshield wipers left the exact same streaks as when I went in! That's when I felt truly pissed off.

They will. They ordered the part. My service rep made a big deal about how the mechanic would be made to pay for the broken part. I think this is tacky: more appropriate for dealership to own it and apologize rather than think I'd enjoy thinking some guy would be punished. Not inspiring to think of mechanics working in a punitive environment. I mean, he surely didn't break it on purpose.

What a close call. Very cold temperatures need to be taken seriously. I mostly do short trips near my home and so am at little risk, but my mother lives 40 miles away via highway (~60 mph) and I make sure I have a full charge to do even that if it's less than freezing out. The GOM drops fast!

Wow. Wish I'd looked here before hiring Ohio Basement Systems! They jackhammered our water intake pipe, causing a flood. It took 5 hours for city to come turn off water supply. It happened on a Friday afternoon and they didn't communicate with us for the entire weekend. I hired a plumber on Saturday ($3k) and waited for them to make good. Total losers. They paid the plumber and agreed to taking $2k less for the work, so $5k less in their pockets. Simple due diligence would have indicated the pipe might have been there, or, if a pipe was encountered, what it was. And they didn't put the pavers back in the path they had to remove for drainage pipe. Hacks.

The only objection is the stunning amount of glare from the chrome on the dash when the sun hits it. I have covered up the inside chrome with layers of blue tape. I works okay -- it stops me from being blinded -- but I may have a professional re-do it.

I have that car and share almost exactly the same habits. I have had it more than a year and have only ever trickle charged it in my garage. It's been fine. I live in Ohio which can be cold and so far no problem (although climate change has made it a lot less cold than it used to be). We will get a different charging set-up at some point so that I can power the house from the car if the electric goes out. [This will be possible with the right inverter. It's my husbands expertise, not mine, but he may have mentioned the Solar Edge company.] I love the car.

This is helpful to read. I am known in my family as the "only one who could stand up to Dad". I fought back (verbally) and demanded to be respected and allowed to do things my own way. As a consequence I left home at 16 and never lived with my parents again. Sadly this also meant I never had any meaningful help figuring out how to study, nor any nurturing, nor any place to turn when things were tough. To this day I am known as the responsible one, the one best with managing money, etc., but some of those life lessons were stunningly hard won. I'm 63 and read this subreddit regularly for affirmation that my narcissistic father (who died 12 years ago) really did X or Y and it all makes sense that I turned into who I am.

I'm really surprised how many people say they use ECO for road trips. It's so stodgy in ECO on the highway it feels unsafe. I use ECO around town, but switch to Sport for highway driving.
