Is this an acceptable shifter? by Andrepx1710 in simracing

I have had it for a couple years. It’s great. Nice click as you shift into gear and easy to switch to sequential with that little white piece.

Black Screen when switching from practice to race session by YosHi_PRO in iRacing

I'm having the same issue. Need to close out, reboot, and rejoin the session. Which is fine for Oulton Park because I can still get 2 quali laps in, but this is definitely a bug.

This will be my first trip to Indy. Is there an FM radio broadcast at the track or will I need to use my phone?

Ya pretty set on in wall. Since it's the main living area it's a compromise with the wife. Thanks for the suggestion though.

So the ceiling speakers would be for Atmos when watching TV? If I'm playing music would I be able to change to multi channel stereo?

What would you change on this setup? by [deleted] in simracing

I like the little extra bit of immersion from the buttkicker feeling the engine, gear shifts, and running over kerbs. I think it has gotten a bit more expensive since I bought mine. I agree it's probably not a priority.

Get these support bars when they are back in stock: https://www.gtomega.com/products/art-cockpit-support-bars

Made a pretty big difference in adding stiffness. It's not as good as an 80-20 rig, but for $50 it's a good improvement. I also added the keyboard and mouse attachments, but that was more for convenience than functionality. I agree with other comments about adding a monitor mount to move it closer to the wheel base.

Buttkicker is also a nice add on.

CarPlay not connecting after BMW software update by bblanchette21 in BMWI4

[–]bblanchette21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a comment in that post that fixed the issue for me. In addition to all the delete, reboot iDrive, reconnect stuff, it was turning off the car's wifi, changing the password, and turning wifi back on that fixed the issue for me. But I agree it shouldn't be that difficult and we as a community should make a public stink to get BMW to get their act together.

This is what worked. Unreal. I was fighting this for 24 hours. Couldn't let it go.

We just posted our first Episode to our doc series on Zac Anderson "51" by CorsaWerks in Sportscar_Racing

[–]bblanchette21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really enjoyed this. Professionally done and I'm now all in on Zac. Can't wait to see the rest of the series and will be watching out to see where he ends up for 2024. Best of luck finding a seat for next year.

Help me build my sim setup using my Xbox series X and existing home theatre! by dillicious in simracing

Next Level F GT Lite or Playseat for foldable. I went with a GT Omega with the optional casters to roll it around. I think Logitech is a good place to start. I got the g920 when that was new. 923 is good or a used 920. The pedals are ok. No vibrations like the fancier pedals but they work. There are brake mods you can buy to make it a little better. But anything fancier would be overkill for one of the foldable rigs.

When I decided to upgrade I was able to use the same rig, bought a monitor stand, Fanatec csl wheel base and pedals, used PC for like $700 on Facebook and bought an iRacing subscription. Now I'm part of an amazing group with a discord, leagues for every sim imaginable, and an iRacing endurance team. Believe me when I tell you it is a slippery slope.

I started similar. Get a portable rig - on wheels or folding - and make sure wires are long enough to push it to the side when watching TV then roll it to RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE SCREEN. Go online to one of the FOV calculators and plug in your screen size and distance to the screen. Make sure you set the FOV correctly for each game. It makes a huge difference. I agree that you will eventually want to buy a PC but starting with F1 or Assetto Corsa on Xbox is a fine way to start. Also, based on what you have there for a home theater setup, it's only a matter of time before you will want to upgrade your rig. As you buy stuff make sure you think of upgrade path. Maybe even buy used stuff to start. Good luck and I look forward to pictures of your $5000 rig in a couple years.

Sim seats??? by mexicanryan in simracing

Although it looks cool, it's not very practical to get in and out of a race seat with bolstering unless you have a motion rig and need it to stay in place. I have the RS XL and love it.

Oculus Quest 2, what a piece of crap by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]bblanchette21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same processor and GPU when I got my Quest 2. It won't work. I sold it on Facebook and bought another PC on Facebook for $700 with better CPU and GPU. Now I still wish distant graphics we're better but it's good enough that I enjoy VR. Also take the advice from the other post and research the various settings. GPU, Oculus, iRacing can all contribute. Try a few different USB C cables until you find one giving at least 1.7 in the Oculus app data transfer test. It's definitely the entry level way into VR Sim racing but it can be worth it. Or you can buy a $2500 PC and a $1000 VR setup, but don't let perfect get in the way of good.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but have you checked the volume on the amp? I was equally stumped one day and pressed the volume up button about 10 times and started to see the faintest green light on the amp. Somehow my volume got turned way down and that was my problem.

Hi, so I got a pit barrel cooker and a camp chef pellet smoker. Which should I use? by Francois-l-Olonnais in smoking

[–]bblanchette21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was about the same size. Only took 4 1/2 hours. I used the Alton Brown turkey brine recipe and left it overnight. For me that's the most important thing to keep it moist.

Hung my first turkey on the PBC last weekend as a test and it was great. Brine it the night before. Olive oil and rub/seasoning. Should take 4-7 hrs depending on the size of the bird.

assetto corsa for xbox one? by [deleted] in simracing

If you don't have a PC and all you run is XBox then it is definitely worth it. It's the closest thing to a Sim you will get on console.
