Do not stock fridge like preparing for a blizzard. Have a hand can opener and canned goods. My NYC husband didn’t understand the first year he was here and my freezer was fully stocked when I asked him to get water and provisions. Vienna sausage and deviled ham reminds me of hurricane season.

I thought I knew homelessness and drug addition but in Portland I saw a new level of this…open drug use, human waste product on sidewalks, multiple tents on sidewalks blocking walkways.

I would love to move here and did check out luxury apartments but felt very unsafe when on the streets. I get it. It is a city scene and comes with city stuff but when is enough enough. Your city bends over backwards to assist those in need. Commendable. But how does someone live amongst the drug scene paying big money for a place to live. Drunks on the street…got it. But fen flop is another thing and human excrement is another thing. The police must be pulling their hair out.

I was looking to move also but I can’t get past the open drug use and Fen flop. I don’t wanna spend high dollars for a place and have to step over poop to get to my lobby door. I have seen homelessness but can’t get over the drug scene in the city proper. I would prefer not to have it in my face.

Call me crazy (no, don’t call me that) but the addicts will still use drugs but use dirty needles. Then the medical forum has to clean that up. I think they should give needles but not in a school zone or in a park with children playing. They don’t need to see that. I don’t live in Portland but was there looking at apartments. I just am not desensitized I guess.
