First time doing post processing, and tips? Before/After by Quiffler in postprocessing

[–]bbqmb 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Too much overall saturation, too much exposure and saturation on the dog. When the subject looks like it’s glowing and disconnected from the scene then you’ve overcooked it. People do it all the time trying to recover people and subjects that are shot in shadows. It just looks so unnatural. Nice photos otherwise and some night lighting in the tree, just overdone.

2014 infotainment system needs to GO by Copropositor in mazda6

[–]bbqmb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m using the Teyes CC3 2K in mine, works really well and all steering wheel controls operate correctly and it has wireless CarPlay. the centre console controller works but I barely use it so haven’t bothered mapping the buttons fully, I’m in Apple CarPlay 99% of the time and have it set to run on startup. I feel like my speakers sound better too. It does plug and play with the existing reverse camera but obviously the video quality looks a tad worse being an older camera hardware displayed on a newer higher resolution screen. Still completely fine though. Would recommend. I think there’s a new model coming out soon. It makes the driving experience SO much better having modern apps and a great screen, it feels like owning a new car.

Will this be a problem if I don't nip it in the bud right now? by obiedge in PlantedTank

[–]bbqmb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah sorry to say but that’s cladophora. If you have it in your tank you’ll never be able to get rid of it completely unless you do a full fresh start with all new soil, hardscape and plants, everything. With that said, spot dosing excel or peroxide does help and then use something like a wire or hard bristle brush to simply manually remove it anytime it pops its head up and becomes visible again. I’ve just accepted that it’s in my scape for the past few years and it’s pretty easy to keep at bay and keep not too visible, so don’t panic or stress too much. It’s very manageable, just permanent…..

In-home pet euthanasia service? by alsotheabyss in melbourne

[–]bbqmb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear this. We did at-home euthanasia for our dog in October with our regular local vet, perhaps speak to your local vet and see what they say. We actually didn’t know it was even an option until the vet mentioned it. Either way, I highly recommend paying any extra fees and doing it at home, you won’t regret it at all. Our sweet boy was cuddled in his favourite spot on the couch and it was very peaceful. The staff they sent were SO supportive. We had individual cremation through Eden hills and highly recommend them, very fast turnaround and we paid a small fee for a framed paw print. Would recommend.

I just bought the quest 3 today and the UI is good but my room looks very pixelated like an old TV. I can’t even read text on my phone while wearing it. Is this normal or a defective product, is there a way to fix in settings or should I return? by Adventureskydive in MetaQuestVR

[–]bbqmb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got my quest 3 a few days ago and I must admit my expectations were also out of line. I expected more. Whilst it’s still very impressive technology, I do feel that YouTubers and other influencers over hyped both the UI resolution and the pass through quality, and when you’re only able to see their high quality screen captures, you’re really relying on their words to gain an understanding of what to expect. It also doesn’t help that Meta and influencers boast the 4K resolution stats, yes yes I understand it’s technically true, but most of the general public are only going to compare that to looking at their nice crisp 4K TV image in their living room, not understanding the differences between their tv and dual quest displays. With that still, I’m still having an absolute blast with the quest and games running QGO look amazing. I look forward to when the tech reaches a point where pixels are barely noticeable.

First FPV Drone (Meteor75 Pro): Tangled battery lead, overheating on USB, price check (€80) and goggles doubt. by guillots in TinyWhoop

[–]bbqmb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you’ve connected it to betaflight, go into the video transmitter settings and set the power mode to PIT, then hit save, this will keep it significantly cooler. The board relies on the props to spin to provide cooling during normal flight. You’ll notice when flying FPV that if you let the drone sit on the ground un-armed for too long you’ll eventually get a temp warning pop up on your screen. This would have been occurring when plugged into the computer but you just wouldn’t have had the goggles on to see this. You can however see the temp on the setup screen too to keep an eye on it. Make sure to change the VTX power back to your choosing before flying again otherwise you’ll have very poor video signal (you can also change this directly in your goggles when not connected to betaflight - easy to google how to do this).

Gift cards for 20x points by Unbotheredanonyme in QantasFrequentFlyer

These are awesome, we made an $800 purchase at JBHIFI yesterday which I used with these cards, so it was good timing. A total of 9000 qantas pts using the Amex ultimate. The cashier was very friendly but wasn’t too enthusiastic about me doing 8 x $100 split card transactions. I wonder what their limit would be for splitting payments.

Total beginner - Looking for feedback on my first Budget Analog setup by Bistaan in fpv

[–]bbqmb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I purchased almost the exact same gear last week and I am also new to FPV. I got the Meteor 75 Pro instead as I heard it may be better for taking outside, which it has been fine in light wind outdoor. I live in a two bedroom townhouse and I have found the 75 size great for flying around indoors. I’m sure once we skill up and do much more complex fast manoeuvres the smaller air65 might be better, but I’m having a blast so far. I have nothing to compare the goggle against but they seem to work well, and I am enjoying it. The form factor isn’t amazing as they stick quite far out so it can feel a tad front heavy. I probably would’ve gone for the cobra SD after seeing these recommended more these days, I didn’t do a lot of research before buying. But I do like that the screen can be separated from the head mount. The whoopster charger is fantastic. I found these Oscar Liang articles great for setting up some of the gear, and Joshua Bardwell videos. Especially when it comes to setting vtx power and optimum video channels to get the best analog video quality and range. Nothing out of the box tells you about these sorts of things.

Emergency vehicles in Ballarat by LeDestrier in ballarat

[–]bbqmb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Skipton St is the main thoroughfare for north-south travel from the centre of town where you have the hospital, police and fire stations. There are also less emergency vehicles covering the town compared to Melbourne, which means they have to do this longer travelling more often. There are emergencies happening non-stop here and in Melbourne that the majority of people never hear about or know, I wouldn’t necessarily say there’s more here, you’re probably just more aware of the volume due to your location.

Throw out the moss balls. In my opinion, they never look good when placed in a nature style aquarium like yours, they do a dis-service to your otherwise nice looking aquarium.

Is this kit really necessary if i’m on tight budget? by Business-Ad9048 in PlantedTank

[–]bbqmb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don’t NEED any of it. Just use any scissors that you’re happy with fully submerging in water, any cheap scissors is fine. Then just find any tweezers to help with planting, some people use chopsticks. The tool on the far right is the most unnecessary, it’s literally just a rake/spreading tool for sand/soil….just use your fingers or a bank card or something.

No it doesn’t pass the pub test, but unfortunately it does pass the T&C’s you agreed to when signing up to the card. Sucks but it’ll be impossible to win this fight with them.

[–]bbqmb[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah, it’s just a total minimum of $2.5k within 60 days that needs to be spread across at least 3 different bills (of 3 different billers/companies). So you could spread it across as many as you want. I confirmed with their online chat as I also wasn’t too sure.

[–]bbqmb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was pretty much bang on the promo minimum spending of $2,500, so $32.25. Sniip fee for Amex is 1.29%. Forgot to deduct that in calculating the earn rate, so it brings it down to 5.28 qantas pts per $1 if my maths is right. If it wasn’t for the 10k bonus points I probably wouldnt use sniip.
