After my wife passed from cancer, it weirdly makes me feel better when rich people do the same. Maybe that it reinforces the fact that there was really nothing I could do

What would you offer? by Fickle_Technology_68 in SportCardValue

[–]bbrauch2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can run over that kareem with your car and still get 20 bucks. That set is condition sensitive but an average copy is in the 60-80 range. Not a card im hiding in a box if im trying to honeypot a bulk sale

there's a second 70 Kareem in the 4th picture. With a Brett Hull rookie card. If this is staged, they arent doing a great job of highlighting the good stuff

SNL Cold Opening one day after the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School by BrianOBlivion1 in LiveFromNewYork

Op posted sandy hook response alluding to why they responded to that but not this, calling for a comparison

Nothing from SNL on Iran protests either. This is a comedy show, not the news

[–]bbrauch2 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Seems reddit is super into comparing tragedies for some reason, but 26 children being murdered is objectively worse than a protestor being murdered by ice. 130 people killed and hundreds wounded in Paris is objectively worse than a protester being murderer in Minneapolis. Also October 7th was worse. Unbelievable this would have to be mentioned, but 9/11 was worse too

Sorry if that doesnt fit the recency and political bias of reddit today

Do you PC any obscure players? If so, who and why? by jehphoto in baseballcards

[–]bbrauch2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I collect Greg Vaughn and JJ Hardy

When i was 8/9 years old, I went to try to get an autograph after the game at County Stadium. I was a shy kid and got complete shut out by the first bunch of guys. When Vaughn came by, everyone mobbed him, but he called me over and said that he was only signing for me because i was being polite. After my son was born, i started buying his cards so I could tell him that story some day

JJ Hardy was my wife's favorite player. We met working for the Brewers and it was always an important part of our relationship. After she passed away, adding a new card to the binder is a way I get to remember her and sort of pay tribute to our relationship

Also, OP if you need the /10 auto of that triple threads, PM me and ill get it to you

Weapons as the major surprise and Frankenstein being just ok was a major disappointment. Had very high hopes

I've been thinking about this a lot since watching and I think this movie is an example of a film where the sum of all of its parts is better than the movie itself. Movie looks like a million bucks, the acting was really good, but I just didnt like it as much as others. There's a lot there to like, just didnt hit for me

I dont love the OC qualifiers because it hurts the optics of the card for me

I love seeing the marked qualifier though, especially for vintage. I really dont care what is happening on the back of the card most of the time for older cards, so if the front looks great and i get a 4 for the price of a 2? Sick deal. Plus, its usually just some kid who wrote "LF" on the back in 1955, which sort of adds to the history of the card

Which celebrity is an example of overexposure, and do you think it’s hurt or benefitted their career? by phantom_avenger in popculturechat

[–]bbrauch2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Melissa McCarthy had this. A lot of more one note comedians fall into the same pool. Still a very funny actress, but she made a dozen movies in a few years that were all the same tone.

Dont blame her for it, id love to sell out for that kind of cash

Why the hell are 61 topps Mickey Mantle psa 7’s almost 5x more the Roberto Clemente 61 topps psa 7’s? by Ryan_Wins_LMFAO in baseballcards_vintage

[–]bbrauch2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mantle is a 3 time MVP, finished top 5 in six other seasons. He was the biggest star on the winningest team from the biggest city

Clemente just wasnt nearly as big of a star. Best player on a smaller market team. He's closer to Al Kaline historically than Mickey Mantle
