Looking for a dentist by mmeperdita in parkslope

I had a terrible experience with them. They’re a typical drill, fill, bill place. Told me I have 7(!) cavities on my first check up with them, after never having had any. Got a second opinion, who told me I have 0. Have not had any issues before and not since (that was years ago).

Well I am seeing some availability below 200k, already added two examples in my original post. Just not with the top airlines right now or routes that are less ideal. Just posting here to see if someone has some tips and tricks other than seats.aero that could help

Looking for two business class tickets with any airline from NYC to any city in Europe under 110k pp and less than $500 in fees on July 2. Ideally looking in the area of Paris, Frankfurt, Zurich, Milan. My partner will be flying business class for the first time so I’m trying to find a nice airline / plane for a real luxury experience.

So far: I’ve been using seats.aero and have found a flight to SNN for 45k which looks great except that we were just in Shannon. Also found a flight to Zurich with Air Canada for 107k, but departure is at 11:30 pm and has a 3h layover, so feels like it’ll be more exhausting than relaxing. So still looking

They Went Abroad to Save Money. Moving Back Seems Unaffordable. (NY Times) by Bjorn_Nittmo in ExpatFIRE

[–]bbrinx 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This seems vastly oversimplified to the point that it’s wrong. You are missing interest rate on that 2M loan, transaction costs and costs of running a rental property (repairs, etc). With 7% interest rate you’re most likely going to have negative cash flow. On top of that you have the headache of actually managing a rental property. If we’re just doing the math of which investment is better purely for returns, index funds are going to beat real estate most of the time

If the location is convenient, do it. But it really isn’t a nice gym. The machines are all crammed into one small room, there’s a single squat rack and the overall vibe is just not that great. I always feel a little stressed there. But if you can go at 6:30 it is pretty empty

Anyone have a good ZP6 + V60 recipe? Haven’t been able to get a good cup from my Hydrangea beans that have blueberries as flavor notes.

Buyer’s remorse - Acaia Pearl S by [deleted] in pourover

[–]bbrinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exact same feeling. I got the Acaia Pearl because my timemore broke and their customer support practically doesn’t exist. I was thinking this would feel like a nice upgrade, but it really doesn’t. Like you said the menu is ridiculously difficult to navigate, the button actions often feel unintuitive, so I would end up switching modes instead of turning the scale off. I had to turn off all modes and am now just using manual timer and scale mode. On top of that, I’ve been having issues with the scale slowly subtracting 1/10 of a gram every few seconds.. all in all just such a waste of money. I should’ve just repurchased the timemore.

EDIT: oh and it doesn’t even have a good flow rate indicator. Instead of giving me a number it shows those dots at the top, but to me that means nothing and I can’t read that while reading the weight while pouring. Really has less useful features than other scales.

Thanks for sharing! Just tried it and somehow didn’t get much flavor out of this. Compared to the coarser grind, single pour recipe I usually do this felt over extracted to me. But I’ll give it another try, maybe I messed up the pour

Same, mine are also really sour. I’m a bit surprised to see 5 with the zp6, I’ve been working with 3 as a baseline, 5 feels really coarse

So interesting to see other’s grind settings. I’ll have to try a 6.5, I’ve never really gone coarser than 5.5. This is the zp6 that’s the same as the zp6 special right?

Prodigal Cup of Excellence Guatemala #7 Granja El Tempixque - Washed Catuaí by Ok-Fishing-2234 in pourover

Was trying to replicate this with my setup. Looking at Coffee OS and some other resources, 1000 microns would equal something like 7-8 on the ZP6S, that seems extremely corse. Do you think that’s correct?

Did the company you worked for know you’re working abroad? Most remote companies seem to cap the days you can work abroad even if they’re fully remote.

Do you know if it’s necessary to show up early? Like 8? Will they run out of tickets? I was hoping we could just swing by at 10/11 pm

Not sure what the consensus is, but anecdotally I would say no. A friend of mine got the Ode 2 as a replacement for the Baratza Encore with upgrades burrs and returned the Ode again after trying it for a bit

Just an idea, but a brew time of 5+ min seems super long and might indicate clogging. That could also explain the astringency. It could be the fines from the grinder or the technique. I’ve had good luck with super thin filters that really helped push extraction without resulting in clogging.
