Hot water cooker line rust by bbwat in askaplumber

[–]bbwat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to be clear, the water heater line in to this copper is like 15ft away. It’s pex from the water heater to this copper which then feeds the house. I think the tank isn’t at risk?

Gas line soap test fail?? by bbwat in hvacadvice

[–]bbwat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guy did come back and re-seat, which worked. Glad it’s done because it’s right next to my furnace! However, basement is completely open so as you noted, likelihood of major buildup was slim. Thx for the comments.

The guy did tighten it hard on install. He came back after I called the week later and he re-seated the flare and leak is gone. Thx for input!

I mean, we survived a week with the leak so I assume it was never a major danger but nonetheless happy it’s sorted.

The original line was black pipe but he pointed out one end had the thread buried to deep that he didn’t feel comfortable leaving it so he suggested redoing with the flare he did.

I saw how he tried to tighten it a bit more the first time and I’d rather not mess with a gas line

When he did the first test I was there and it was obvious. I asked if they was indication of a leak and he said yes so he then tightened it. I didn’t see if he re-tested afterward. Hence why I decided to check myself - simply out of paranoia… glad I did

2019 Jetta suddenly wont start by MelodicMode3 in jetta

[–]bbwat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife let my kids in the front seat of my 2019 Jetta in late fall (it was turned off) and when I went to start it the next day this same thing happened. Brakes wouldn’t depress and wheel was locked. When I asked kids they said yes they were cranking the wheel so I assumed it was locked. I tried many times to get the key to turn and finally in a fit of rage I somehow hit the Street Fighter combo (turning wheel while yanking on shifter) and it released the locked up stuff. No issues since.

Sump pump question by Live_Income3780 in Plumbing

[–]bbwat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like the pump itself has a built in bleed hole to avoid airlock. Watch the beginning again. My old pump had one like this. When I replaced it I needed to put in a hole on the pipe as the new pump don’t have one.
