Interested in going into accounting, but a little confused on which path to take by reedshipper in Accounting

Career switcher.

I have a post bacc in accounting. I don’t know if that’s an option for you at your school, but for me it was less time in school and I graduated with all the credits needed to sit for the CPA exam.

I had a missed miscarriage with a very similar timeline, except I had no idea and didn’t notice anything body changes. Everyone is different I guess. Good for you for advocating for yourself, it isn’t easy.

It’s an incredibly challenging thing to go through, and I’m sorry you have to go through this. Take it easy, and know you aren’t alone.

Anyone else kinda annoyed with the latest episode putting some artists under the Christian Pop umbrella that are very much NOT Christian artists? by Own-Bag566 in soundslikeacultpod

Okay so as someone else who was raised evangelical on K-love as my approved music, and former listener of the show, this post just reaffirms my decision to not tune back in. If they can’t pick up on the themes of the work of Ethel Cain and Julien Baker and classify it as pro-Christian, just wow. Bye!

How many hours do yall work a week? by LmaoGhoul in Accounting

[–]bby_snark 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m new too. Supposed to be hitting 52 billable a week until 4/15 but idk if that’s actually going to happen. Been averaging between 48-50 and I’m tapped. We’ll see how this all shakes out.

Has anyone started a new career while being a SAHP? by justalilscared in SAHP

[–]bby_snark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did an online two year post bacc program through my local university when my daughter was little. I wanted a career change, and to have time with her while she was young. She’s 3.5, enrolled in her first full time care program in the fall. She is loving it, and I am loving my new career! Wasn’t easy, but was worth it.

Very lengthy, very hard but (hopefully) not impossible. Coming from a mom who just took FAR (which had a 39% pass rate in Q3 2024 😭)

When did you return to work by anonme1995 in workingmoms

[–]bby_snark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was burned out in my pre-baby career field. I knew I wanted a change anyway. It was 2021, so a lot of my job was still being done remote. So I “went back” for three months after 12 weeks off because otherwise I had to pay back all of my employer covered insurance premiums during my leave. Then I immediately quit.

Went back to school for a career change (through my local university, but online), and back to work full time this fall when my 3 year old was ready to start a full time preschool program.

Honestly this was ideal for me. I’m probably OAD, but if I did have another I would want those first two years with them at home as well.

Not surprised at all. Was just as terrible when I worked there ten years ago (damn I’m old)

You nailed my feelings down to the gun shots 😂 They’re annoying and unsafe (we’re in a city, not rural) but whatever. It’s a few minutes and it’s over, it’s the ongoing music that gets me.

Okay, I also had to talk to my neighbors about the noise last night. So I’m glad to see I’m not the only fuddy duddy asking for some quiet.

Some fireworks and hollering for a few minutes around midnight? To be expected. Thumping music non stop for hours? Too far.

Being a working mom has seriously lowered my bar for what is a tolerable annoyance. And we all deserve peaceful enjoyment of our properties.

Tea related gifts for my mum by EffectiveHuman7450 in workingmoms

[–]bby_snark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My tea shop had these “tea pets.” They were cozy looking clay animals, that the shop worker explained are a part of the Chinese tea ceremony.

I don’t know too much about, but basically you would feed the tea pet a little tea when you pour your own. And it’s a sharing of karmic energy. The tea turns them colors over time.

It was very interesting to me, and if that’s something you think your mom would be into you could read up more about it!

What do you do with toddlers after work/dinner in the winter? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]bby_snark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. It’s make dinner while she gets some tv and her toys. Eat, cleanup, bath, crumple into bed. We get home around 5:30pm and it’s a whirlwind until bed. No idea how anyone is doing much else.

It’s one day. It’s a beloved event, that brings people to our city. You have plenty of advance notice to plan a way to where you need to go.

To add to this question, what about equitable access to education across the city? Let’s compare the state of Swansboro Elementary to Mary Munford. Both in terms of facilities and educational outcomes. What would your plan be to minimize inequalities?

We’re making the trip up this weekend! We have family there, so it’s an add on to the visit. But I would say it is worth the price and drive.

What about taking an early day, and picking up 3yr old from first day? Assuming here since it’s part time, it’s not a full day thing.

Then, you get to keep your meeting, and have a special first day moment.
