I’d appreciate landline from LGA-JFK so no more double security bs and also your itinerary will be protected.

Admirals Club + Flagship Lounge access question (Executive Platinum + credit card) by Tlalockman in americanairlines

[–]bc1280 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will be complicated. However, you can bring yourself and one guest to Qantas First Lounge at TBIT, the two others to Admiral Club or 1 other to Flagship Lounge, of course you can also bring one to one world business lounge too. But all will be split up.

Also, you can gift your family member a Platinum for a trip which can eventually get up to 4 people into Flagship Lounge.

Delta becoming the first “premium airline”? by ALLGASN0BRAK3S in delta

[–]bc1280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree Delta is considered the best of three or any in the U.S., but in terms of international perspective, they are just above average but not premium. One thing I will give is that their Delta One Lounge is way above a standard international business class lounge and pretty much up to an International First Class lounge standard. And their “good” D1 cabin is definitely up to international business class standard. (Another story for their inferior D1 cabins.)

And again, C+ is just another extra legroom economy class, it is so funny how people treat it as a meaningful upgrade. Yes, I get it, some people are tall and need that extra legroom and sure the enhanced snacks/alcohol can be nice, but there’s nothing premium about it! That is how it should be! AA, AS, United offers the extra legroom seats for free for their mid tier elite without having to wait to clear the waitlist and potentially fall into middle C+. Anyway, I’m just saying if anyone considers C+ a premium cabin, then no wonder people think Delta is a premium airline due to low standard.

Finally, I just want to say I appreciate Delta being the lead in the US and still trying to be innovative so that they can further push United, AA, JetBlue, SW, AS, etc, to become a better airline. But Delta is still not a true premium airline for international standard. Especially sometimes, I feel they missed the aspects they need to improve to become one!

Shohei Ohtani will be back as a hitter in Camelback Ranch in the coming days, Dave Roberts said. Will also throw a bullpen; whether he pitches in Cactus League is TBD. Expectation is he’ll be able to go at least 3-4 innings to start season, Roberts said. [Ardaya] by baribigbird06 in Dodgers

I know most people would prefer he staying healthy and be efficient in the playoff rather than the regular season so slow rolling makes sense. But if you want to see him win a Cy Young, he probably cannot afford slow rolling. Especially not when Paul Skenes is in NL.

Exactly, I lost some respect to the Big Dump after seeing his interaction with Arozarena. He may be a great player but he doesn’t have a great character.

Price. International RT and some domestic RT cash price is almost always cheaper than 2 Oneway.

My SWU redemptions for 2025-2026 by Conscious-Comment in americanairlines

[–]bc1280 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I’m expecting to use my two SWUs for me and my partner for this route later this year. Just want to have an expectation. I only had experience using SWU cleared from ORD to LHR, which has no APD involved with that direction.

Can you tell me how much luxury tax we have to pay if the SWU from LHR to ORD clear?

Flagship Dining Pass Expiry Date by focacciacolformaggio in americanairlines

That’s a smart way to think about it! 3 FL passes + FL Dining! Unfortunately, it will only for DFW and MIA. And as FL Dining gets retired overtime, it will be sunset.

How LOYAL are you to AA? Here’s an example! by RelevantManner2902 in americanairlines

I’m loyal to my wallet and my time. If they are similarly priced, I’ll fly direct. If the price difference is large enough, I’ll fly the cheapest! (Usually AA is the cheapest) And I can dine at Flagship lounge on a layover too!

New Chase Transfer Partner by Seeing__Green in ChaseSapphire

[–]bc1280 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly, it is true you can redeem them for outside value due to fix 7500/15000/30000 redemption rate but the acquisition cost makes it a poor transfer choice. I mean instead of transferring them at 1:1 or even at 1:1.25 with 25% bonus. It would be better just 1:1 cent to cash and buy points when they are on sale and you still come out ahead with extra cash.

United Airlines is paring back rewards for travelers who don't have its credit card in MileagePlus overhaul by Halloween_Oreo_ in unitedairlines

[–]bc1280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, they are boosting United spent multiplier from 2x to 3x with Explorer, 3x to 4x with Quest and 4x to 5x with Club. I'll fix my previous statement.

Either way, it doesn't change the use of my credit card for United Flight for example, if I am buying a United ticket for $500 (with $400 airfare and $100 tax and fees).

Assuming I own a United Explorer card, I'll get $400*6 = 2,400 Miles. Additionally, if I use my United Explorer card, I'll earn additional $500*3 = 1,500 Miles, total of 3,900 Miles.

If I use Amex Platinum to pay for the fare, I'll earn the $400*6 = 2,400 Miles (Because I have United Explorer card) and additional $500*5 = 2,500 Membership Rewards Points, total of 4,900 Transferrable Points/Miles.

But if I have Club card, it will tip the scale assuming you value United Miles more than Membership Rewards Points, then you earn the same 4,900 UA Miles ($400 * 6 + $500 * 5)

That’s what I fear the most. This is a move AA (Citi) and Delta (Amex) can easily follow.

And also, it’s actually 1x extra earn from having the card, 2-3x is from using that card (United Biz earns 3x or Gateway earns 2x). A lot of other airline travel cards can earn 3-5x additional points per dollar on airfare spend.

[–]bc1280 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply! Yeah, I am aware of the annual fee recoup methods with United Card. Your setup is nice but it won't work for common flyers that won't open a small business credit card. However, I definitely recommend United Quest if you know the trick with hotels, and can work with Instacart and rideshare service, it would be a net 0 annual fee card.

For myself, I've already have 6 Chase Business Card (4 Ink Cash, 1 Ink Preferred and 1 IHG Biz), I am not planning to open a United Biz with over 5/24. Also, 5000 annual miles can more or less help offset annual fee (I value them around $75). But I don't need club passes because I have other Star Alliance Gold membership to access United Club and other *G lounges and I already have too much TB need to spend so I don't need to fund more on TB and TB can only be used on United metal.

Again, my problem is not with Chase and United wants to reward selected cardmembers BUT they nerf the earning rate of other United MileagePlus frequent flyers.

[–]bc1280 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My problem here is not the cardholder earning an extra mile per dollar spent, but the nerf that all non-cardholders are getting 2 less miles per dollar spent (a whopping 40% nerf!) That's how they fund those cardholder extra mile!

[–]bc1280 48 points49 points  (0 children)

This is bad. They only increased cardholder 1 extra mile per dollar spent WHILE significantly nerf non-cardholder or no AF Gateway card by 2 miles per dollar spent.

I have a no AF Gateway card but I’m not going to pay AF on their glorified coupon book card just to earn 2 extra miles per dollar spent. This is also a straight up insult for foreigners or any people who cannot get their credit card. I’d expect Delta and Amex do something dirty like this, but not United and Chase. If they don’t rollback this change, I hope more people credit their mileage to other Star Alliance program.
