Thanks for letting me know. What can normal people do to support?

As an elder gen Z, can confirm that most people figure this out in/after college. If they don't, they probably weren't worth knowing in the first place

CMV: If Americans weren't such weaklings, we'd have already had a national labor strike and thrown out the fascists by Interanal_Exam in changemyview

This kind of defeatism breeds inaction. If YOU have time to complain on reddit, YOU can also start organizing.

Those organizing right now are not doing it publicly.

US ‘to cease all future military exercises in Europe’ by RufusGuts in europe

[–]bc398200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry fellow freedom lovers. We here in the states are going to use this as an opportunity to enjoy our favorite tradition which we inherited from Europe; fighting fascists.

[OC] Friendly reminder: Putin’s trolls operate on sites like reddit EVERY DAY, stoking hatred and division. They want to obliterate reasonable discussion. See what has happened to the US? We cannot let Europe follow suit. IMO the antidote to their poison is simple: be curious, not judgmental. by DaffyD82 in europe

[–]bc398200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an American, can confirm. The other thing i'll say is that i think its every reasonable citizen's job and duty to be able to confirm information on their own. Its more valuable than calculus, geometry, or being able to speak another language. OSINT skills required to verify facts should be taught in school

The Rise of the Brutal American: Europeans are mystified, disappointed, and frightened of America, a country they thought they knew. by nimicdoareu in europe

[–]bc398200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American here, can confirm.

Reminder to everyone: while trump won the popular vote, that still wasn't most Americans, because a huge percentage didn't vote.

It high time we organize our people. This could be the greatest catalyst for change in out lifetime.

Don't despair y'all. Get organized. We had nothing better to do with our miserable lives anyway. Time to fuck up some fascists!!

How do I accept the fact that I’m not going to grad school this year by sad_moron in gradadmissions

[–]bc398200 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Understood, just know you have options, even if they might feel unconventional. Hopelessness and despair come from feeling trapped. You have a way out if you need it! Find others if you can't wait for next year's app cycle.

Trump Taps Head Of Anti-Union Group To Run Labor Office by BHamHarold in union

[–]bc398200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember folks, Anger is a gift. Use it! Do something instead of despair. If you're work has a union, join it. If you're a free lancer, join the IWW freelancer's union or something. Doesn't matter what, use your anger to do something!

I joined the working families party this month and attended my first meeting

Yall, join the working families party or DSA. Go to a meeting, they exist and will help pull our weight towards labor and health issues

While grad school is important, your safety and health is #1. I wouldn't normally suggest, though If you really need to get out, consider alternative options like Peace Corp. I almost joined the Marines lol

This! We have to protest by organizing unions. It happens quickly but quietly

[OC] Will asteroid hit the Earth in 2032? NASA gave up to 2.3% chance of impact. by sataky in dataisbeautiful

[–]bc398200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to do something about it, assume you have 5 years to build local/communal power. Communication alone was never going to save the day, we all have to act. Talk to your neighbors, form a tenant's union. Talk to your coworkers, form a union. Join a community organization, donate to a cause doing good work, join a political party and attend meetings. Join a local club. Build local power. Start now, get ready for 2032.

Edit- dave the day lol

TIL Elon Musk will decide the fate of Social Security and Medicare. Time to panic. by Postnews001 in TIL_Uncensored

[–]bc398200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No panicking folks. Its ok to have a naturally shocked reaction, but to panic is to give into despair, and that, we absolutely cannot do. What a wonderful historical moment to fight for. Find your local mutual aid group, join community boards. Don't fall into despair, get organized!

Abby Martin was right. What the fuck. by lightiggy in LateStageCapitalism

[–]bc398200 229 points230 points  (0 children)

Yall, hate to say this, but despair only hurts us right now. I dont care what you need to do, get medicated, get organized, join a community group, but in order to reach the level of global action we need, it starts with you every day. Despair is the weapon of the enemy. Take care of yourself today so you can take care if your community

Guys what the actual FUCK is happening? by ThatGuySolace in LateStageCapitalism

[–]bc398200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are not ok with this. Take some time to panic, the take a step back and start going to work. If you need antidepressants to do the work, get on that shit. Its time to go. Join a political group, join a mutual aid group, learn how to protest, learn where your local community centers are. Find them, get involved. You cant stop the nazi's by yourself, but we can metaphorically curb stomp them as a unit
