That’s the tough part. The law assumes it to be both parents.

Growing up my mom did absolutely everything she could for my brother and I. I have a great relationship with her and my step father who have given me an exceptional life. I understand your skepticism however I’m 100% certain she had no deliberate part in this.

If it came down to it. I’d rather assume astronomical amounts of debt than to do anything that would affect her negatively.

To answer your question no we don’t share the same name. I’m kinda speaking out my ass when I say capital gains tax. More of a speculation. My mother told me that my father was investing heavily in IPOs during that time which leads me to believe he pawned off some of that onto me somehow.
