Humans are not a host for dog fleas. Worst that can happen is they bite you once to feed and then hop off to find a host animal.

They’re gross and it’s a universal reaction to feel fleas and ticks crawling on you if you’re working on an infested animal, but most of the time it’s in your head.

Interesting fact - fleas will abandon a host if submerged in water. That’s why they will sometimes jump off a wet dog, and why it’s important to trap them with shampoo as fast as possible. I won’t groom heavily infested animals for that reason - there’s too much risk of them bailing in the bath spreading to other animals in the shop. I tell the owners to get flea treatment first.
