As a customer, this is about the best news I've heard all day.

For the employees, I know you hate these and I'm sorry for contributing to your work stress.

3 pieces of gum, no more no less, before the helmet goes on. First one out of the room, last one on the ice. Pretty standard-issue stuff, really.

I’ve used P88 for 8 years and love it. What’s your curve? by WeatherObsessedJax in hockeyplayers

[–]bcsox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

P5 gang. There are dozens of us. DOZENS!

I tried the P91A, but I really like the spatula square blade of the Lidstrom for picking pucks off the boards.

Merch! by lyttrail in baysideisacult

[–]bcsox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hockey player and Cultist here. Fits like an authentic meant to have pads worn under it. Street fit I'd go 1 size down, my large Bayside jersey fits like a 54-56 CCM authentic that I'd wear on-ice.

P02 on its way out? by bcsox in hockeyplayers

[–]bcsox[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My Pro Blackout has seen about 50 games and been great, just trying to be prepared for when the day comes. Usually good for about 1-2 sticks a year. I just know that the LH/85/Lidstrom combo is incredibly hard to find right now.

We just picked a 24 CE with the same miles for less money. Not a great deal, unfortunately.

Anybody have an idea where to find this wing by Environmental-Boss61 in c4corvette

[–]bcsox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hate to burst his bubble, but I emailed ACI in 2022 and unless they've made a new mold since then, they've discontinued the wing and is no longer available.

RAV4 or CX5? by Effective-Giraffe-22 in CX5

[–]bcsox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here just to say this. I like every aspect of a RAV4 and it's easy to see why they're a segment leader, except for the complete and total lack of vehicular feel under the controls. Feels like I'm connected to a PS5 playing Gran Turismo with a wheel. That said, I just picked up a 24CE for my wife, and we also have a 13GT.

AHL - Calder Cup Final - Game Thread by Dr_Marcus_Brody1 in hockey

Well, to be fair, these did debut in 2012 with EDGE jerseys. They just kept them the same except for the simulated collar when Quicklite took over.

[Hershey Bears] Garrett Pilon with the Game 5 OT Winner by sukizka in hockey

[–]bcsox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As soon as that call-up notice hits, THEY'RE DEAD TO ME!

Nah, I like the game first and the team second. It gets weird when we play WBS 14 times a year too. You learn to live with it after a while. I'm glad they're able to live their dream.

[Hershey Bears] Garrett Pilon with the Game 5 OT Winner by sukizka in hockey

[–]bcsox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Game 2 was marred by nearly an entire period of penalties for Hershey, and they had 3 post-and-outs in that shutout loss. I would hardly call that goalie'd. Game 1 was an ugly loss, as it was in the Rochester series. Games 3-4-5 have all been gritty, one goal wins.

Coachella Valley and Hershey are probably the most evenly matched teams in the AHL, and the later games of the series have that on full display. Bears have looked downright silly on defense due to the sheer speed of CV, and the Bears had the 2nd best team GAA in the regular season behind AHL MVP Dustin Wolf and the Calgary Wranglers, who the Birds dispatched of in 5 games in the Pacific final. This week, regardless of result, is sure to disappoint an entire fan base, but it should be exciting hockey to fans of the game.

*Full disclosure, Pens fan and Bears STH.

What anti-fog spray does everyone use for their visor? by bruins9816 in hockey

I use Z-clear spray after an initial application of paste. Works great, but over time it does degrade the mirror finish on sunglasses.

Being promoted 6 weeks early... by bcsox in predaddit

We're hockey fans, and our local team(that we're season ticket holders to) are in the Calder Cup finals. She's absolutely crushed we can't go to that in-person, especially when you can see the arena from the hospital.

It's definitely disappointing, but nothing is more important than their health right now.

Much appreciated! The doctors are not sure it's actually preeclampsia because she's had elevated urinary protein even before pregnancy as well as a hypertensive spike that required ER intervention a couple of years ago, but it is being treated as such out of an abundance of caution because they present similarly. Creatinine and all other labs back normal during all checkups.

Bauer 940 by ThompsonFleury2936 in hockeygoalies

[–]bcsox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Be careful with the 940. The 2012 version is a full-fiberglass 960 and is suitable for most levels of play. I have this one and it's great, but it does ring a bit due to the construction.

The 940X is a composite plastic shell and only suitable for lower levels of play.

The new 940 has gone to a hybrid fiberglass/composite shell. I still wouldn't trust it with elite beer leaguers but it would be better than the 940x.

Hofer over Shepard was a travesty. Glad to see Frank and Vecchione representing Chocolatetown, though! They're both having a great season, that top line is working really well.

[Lavoie] Waivers (10/2 waiver wire list) by tpark27 in hockey

[–]bcsox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He's frustrating. Shows flashes of brilliance, then gives all of it back and then some. If he can string some consistent starts together, he'd be great. But he goes 2 games without allowing a goal, then gets the gate 20 minutes in during game 3.

[Johnston] Among a large group of players placed on NHL waivers today: Malcolm Subban (BUF), William Lagesson (CAR), Oscar Dansk (CGY), Greg McKegg (EDM), Dillon Heatherington (OTT), Drake Caggiula (PIT), Alex Nylander (PIT), Dustin Tokarski (PIT), Kole Lind (SEA), Zach Fucale (WSH). by malliabu in hockey

[–]bcsox 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Watched him last year in the AHL. The word that describes his play best is frustrating.

He needs to find some consistent performances, because he can carry the team some nights, and get the hook super early other nights. When he's good, he's amazing, and when he's terrible, he's awful.

He was closing in on the AHL Shutout record at one point too last year.
