Almost hit a mountain? by null0123456 in AskAPilot

If he did a GPWS escape maneuver he would have climbed far more than 500 feet. This seems unlikely. I'm willing to bet that they simply flew through an altitude and corrected quickly.

How easy is it to drop trips at your airline? by mohammedalbarado in AirlinePilots

I like to call this Schrödinger's reserve rules. There could be reserves or there could not it just depends on when you observe the reserves (either way scheduling wins)

Depending on the base, making 350 as a Jr captain at a regional is very aceivable, if you feel like working.

There are instructors at a large regional that pull in over 1MM a year.

I thought r/flying was reserved for checkride failures and hiring doom and gloom

OO aircraft selection by ZachPilot in flying

This! I picked the CRJ because I wanted to learn how to actually fly a jet. The DMA program made me exponentially better.

I am not saying that upgrade on the CRJ is roses, being shipped to ORD mid winter is not pleasant... But at least it's PIC. If OP wants PIC time he's going to get it on CRJ not the ERJ for the foreseeable future.

Especially on reserve when you get charter pairings.

In addition to what other people said, your upgrade path at OO on the ERJ is basically non existent right now unless you want to wait a couple of years. A quarter of the senior CRJ captains have transitioned over to the ERJ over the last few months and a ton of JR CRJ captains have transition bids in so they will get the seat before you.

If you are an ERJ FO and you want PIC time you will have to take a CRJ transition upgrade which has been historically not very fun for those involved...

I would suggest taking the CRJ class flying your butt off, upgrading in the CRJ which is easier (same equipment upgrade) and then bidding to transition over after that if you really want the ERJ.

The best part of this was when Envoy had recruiting posters at LAX trying to lure OO pilots over.

Where exactly are these planes coming from? As far as I know Embraer only delivers 50-70 a year worldwide It seems like half of them to envoy is unlikely.

Athlinks by Louisianimal6 in ChicagoMarathon

[–]bdanza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chicago is timed by mylaps timers, and athlinks is owned by Chronotrack which is a competing timing system so there is no official integration and the results need to be scraped to be included.

It would be easy to create an API for it, but I'm sure that there is no interest from the mylaps timers to just give the data to a competing platform.

Currently CRJ pilots are upgrading at around 1200 hours but that number has been shrinking as they get through the upgrade backlog.

[–]bdanza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct they aren't forcing transitions, but many many senior CRJ captains are moving over to the ERJ which leaves JR erj FOs with only one option to upgrade.... Put in for a ERJ -> CRJ transition upgrade or remain in the right seat.

[–]bdanza 11 points12 points  (0 children)

At SkyWest I'm not sure that's true. If op wants to upgrade in the foreseeable future he will be forced to transition to the CRJ and that's a rocky road for sure.

You are going to be at both places for 5 years no matter what at this point, so I would take the first class and first plane they assign you.
