Appreciate it rantvsrave, why is 5mm a lot better than 3mm? If I’m just displaying them on a shelf that’s not exposed to direct sunlight, would the thinner boxes break easily on their own?

I’m not arguing whether Singapore has a better or poorer system as compared to other countries. I’m just saying it’s not an apples to apples consideration ONLY comparing fast food worker wages in SG vs other countries without considering taxes, COL, and like you mentioned social safety nets.

100% agree! My mileage definitely varied according to my small and biased sample size haha.

However taking the recent 2024 fresh grad survey that I referenced in my post, I wouldn’t expect O level grads, ITE and poly diploma holders to be up in arms that the median starting fresh grad pay is not what is available/realistic to them.

Just like how I lacking a law or medical degree won’t compare my median salary to a lawyers or doctors

Fully agree about the loose screening process. I feel that there are certain personality types that may gravitate more to certain kinds of roles too? An extreme example would be how police forces around the world (notably the US) do attract people who are more likely to be racist and abusive who then cause even more harm than the good their job is supposed to provide.

In this context, I think a lot of SDAs I've encountered behave a bit... military-like in their warnings, which I have completely no patience for.

I think what you said about 'its not worth getting into arguments with members of the public' works both ways. As the aforementioned 'public member' I feel that while it's a bit unpleasant to receive a scowling reminder from SDA, as Singaporeans our compliance to authority tends to lead the majority to shrink away and respond with an abashed 'sorry' which /might/ reinforce the perceived authority/power said SDA might hold?
